In a nutshell Today we celebrate the birth of the Church with the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. The Spirit of God has also made a home in each one of us, enabling us to be loving, forgiving, joyful and peaceful people. Difficulties and troubles will not be wanting in anyone’s life, but the gift of the Spirit assures us that God’s love and life are always with us.

Raise your voices Entrance antiphon: The love of God has been poured into our hearts by his Spirit living in us, alleluia.

Response to the psalm: Lord, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth. Or: Alleluia!

Gospel acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia!

Communion antiphon: They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke of the great things God had done, alleluia.

Today the coming of the Spirit is in our church and in our world.

In a world of fear and doubt and confusion, the Spirit inspires people to open doors and speak out especially about issues of justice and peace. In a world of selfishness, competition, and control,

the Spirit gives out gifts that are shared for the benefit of all especially those who are poor or in need.

In a world of racism and xenophobia and fear of immigrants, the Spirit invites people of every nation under heaven to come together. In a world with war, violence and terrorism, the Spirit proclaims a message of peace and reconciliation to all. In a world of controlled by the makers of arms &those who resolve issues by war, the Spirit invites us to be peace makers. In a world of economic problems, the Spirit reminds us that the things of the world are mean to be shared by

all and are to be used for the common good. In a world where the environment is abused, and over used, the Spirit calls for reform in how we live, in how we share with the poor, and

in the ways we use the earth with care and love. In a world of ideology and prejudice, the Spirit calls us to think about things in a new way.

On Friday 8th April 2016, Pope Francis published a new papal document called, Amoris Laetitia, ‘The Joy of Love: On Love in the Family’ at the Vatican in Rome. The papal document is also known as an ‘Apostolic Exhortation’. It is available to read on the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference website: https://www.catholic.org.au/synod-2015/home.

Farewell and Welcome

This weekend we say farewell to Father Peter Wood and thank him for all he has done over the past weeks during the time Father Phil has been away on holiday. Goodbye Father, it has been a pleasure knowing you and having you “tend to the flock” in our Parish. Thank you for all your hard work, patience and friendship. We wish you good health, happiness and a safe trip home. Father Phil will be returning this weekend. He has enjoyed his holiday immensely and is looking forward to coming home. He sounds as though he has a new spring in his step!! We welcome you back Father and look forward to seeing you again refreshed and well and ready to take up the reins.
