When we see beautiful arched window treatments we assume that it costs a lot and just dismiss the idea. Guess, what? The truth is that it does not have to cost more than any other custom window treatment.

Besides, if you learn how to make swags and jabot, you can do it yourself. Just because there were thousands of people asking me questions about window treatment, I documented my next project with similar arched window drape. Here are the steps that I hope will help you:

Step 1: Measure the window. You need all the measurements as shown in the picture below.

Fabric: Kasmir- Belvedere Damask Taupe

Step 2: Select and order fabric and trim. You can  use solid color fabric or a fabric with design.

Things to avoid when selecting your fabric for this window treatment:

o Avoid stripes, horizontal or vertical.

o Avoid heavy fabric that does not fold easily.

o Avoid floral prints with a lot of colors in the print.

Step3: The window treatment consists of four joined together parts: Two swags and two jabot. They are made and then mounted on boards as shown below. It is very important to

mount all on boards for easier installation.

Step4: Crowning the window treatment: Have brackets welded to the crown as shown below. I bought a piece of aluminum at

Home Depot for $4.00 and had it made by a welder $20.

In ideal world it will look like this:

Step 5: Determine the height of the top of the crown: Have your window treatment installed (or you can do it yourself) –

sides on the frame of the arched window and the top at a desired height.

Step 6: Attach the crown to the top board. Screw the crown to the top board of the window treatment. You can do this on

the ground, not on the ladder. The window treatments are installed to the wall on regular L brackets.

Advantages:o This design does not require a lot of fabric, so you will save some

money.o It is comparatively easy to do as it requires only basic knowledge of

window treatments, such as making swags and jabot.o The hardware is reasonably priced. Retail $150-$200 for the crown. It

can be purchased from us through my company, Klima Design Group.

o This arched window drape will not block the view or outside natural light

Step 7: Make sure that the sides are all visually equal. Manipulate folds slightly by hand to give them desired look.
