10. SEAL ALL PENETRATIONS THROUGH FLOORS, WALLS, CEILINGS AND ROOFS WHERE
FIRE SPRINKLER COMPONENTS ARE REMOVED AND WHERE THE EXISTING
PENETRATION IS NOT USED FOR THE NEW INSTALLATION. REPAIR SURFACES TO
MATCH ADJACENT AREAS.
11. FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM(S) NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEMOLITION SHALL BE
LEFT IN SERVICE AS APPLICABLE.
12. VERIFY THAT EXISTING EQUIPMENT TO REMAIN IS OPERATING PROPERLY. NOTIFY
THE ARCHITECT, ENGINEER AND/OR OWNER OF ANY DAMAGED AND/OR
MALFUNCTIONING COMPONENTS.
13. ALL SYSTEMS TO BE LEFT IN SERVICE PRIOR TO THE END OF EACH WORKDAY.
FIRE SPRINKLER GENERAL NOTES:
1. SPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGN, INSTALLATION AND MATERIALS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
NFPA 13. SYSTEM SHALL ALSO MEET ALL APPLICABLE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL BUILDING
CODES, FIRE CODES, AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION AND
INSURANCE CARRIER/UNDERWRITER. VERIFY REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO BID SUBMITTAL.
2. INFORMATION ON CONTRACT DOCUMENTS IS GENERAL INFORMATION AND FOR BID PURPOSES
ONLY. LAYOUT SYSTEM, PERFORM REQUIRED CALCULATIONS AND COORDINATE WITH OTHER
TRADES.
3. SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PAY FOR ALL STATE AND LOCAL PERMITS
REQUIRED FOR WORK, AND SCHEDULE ANY INSPECTIONS REQUIRED BY GOVERNING RULES AND
REGULATIONS.
4. PROVIDE ADDITIONAL MATERIALS AND LABOR REQUIRED DUE TO LACK OF COORDINATION AND
TO MEET AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION AND INSURANCE CARRIER REQUIREMENTS AT NO
ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
5. MODIFY EXISTING SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO PROVIDE 100 PERCENT COVERAGE THROUGHT ENTIRE
BUILDING AND ALL SPACES. RELOCATE AND/OR PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SPRINKLERS, PIPING,
HANGERS, ETC. COORDINATE WITH WALLS, CEILINGS, LIGHTS, DIFFUSERS, STRUCTURE,
OBSTRUCTIONS, ETC. IN AREAS AFFECTED BY SCOPE OF WORK.
6. COORDINATE SPRINKLER SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS TO MINIMIZE SYSTEM IMPAIRMENT. PROVIDE
FIRE WATCH AND INTERIM FIRE PROTECTION MEASURES WHERE REQUIRED BY THE AUTHORITY
HAVING JURISDICTION, INSURANCE CARRIER OR OWNER.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL HYDRAULICALLY CALCULATE ENTIRE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM.
8. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL FIRE SPRINKLER PROTECTION FOR ALL COMBUSTIBLE
CONCEALED SPACES AS REQUIRED BY NFPA 13. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY
DRY SYSTEM EQUIPMENT WHERE SPACES ARE NOT CONDITIONED.
9. ALL PIPING SHALL BE ROUTED ABOVE BOTTOM CHORD OF JOIST.
10. ALL PIPING SHALL BE PITCHED BACK TO MAIN WITH SPRINKLERS AS HIGH AS POSSIBLE IN
SPACES WITH NO CEILINGS (EXPOSED ROOF STRUCTURE).
11. COORDINATE PIPE ROUTING NEAR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT WITH NFPA 70.
12. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE DRY PENDENT SPRINKLERS HEAD GUARDS IN FREEZER/COOLERS
WHERE APPLICABLE. COORDINATE SPRINKLER HEAD LOCATIONS WITH OTHER TRADES AND
COMPLY WITH OBSTRUCTION RULES IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13.
13. PENDENT SPRINKLERS SHALL BE CENTERED IN THE CEILING TILES. REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL
PLAN FOR CEILING GRID LAYOUT.
14. COORDINATE SPRINKLER TEMPERATURES NEAR HEAT-PRODUCING SOURCES WITH NFPA 13.
15. DO NOT CONNECT MORE THAN ONE SPRINKLER TO AN EXISTING ONE-INCH OUTLET UNLESS
HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS ARE INCLUDED TO VERIFY PERFORMANCE.
16. TAMPER AND FLOW SWITCHES SHALL BE MONITORED BY THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM CONTROL
