The mixed-use redevelopment ofSt James’s Market proposed byThe Crown Estate includes,within the multi-applicationplanning strategy, the buildingsat 29-30 St James’s Street and

25-27 Bury Street that will beredesigned by Smithfield-basedarchitectural practiceTateHindle. Currently, thebuildings provide retail space atground floor and basement levelswith dated offices above and,although unlisted, they arelocated within the St James’sConservation Area. It isproposed that the facades willbe retained and, behind, therewill be a residential buildingfacing the vibrant St James’sStreet and prestige offices facingBury Street. James Hindle,Director, TateHindle, said: “Ourredesign will blend the historicwith the modern. By retainingthe facades and the ground floorretail space, the view from thestreet will remain broadly thesame, but above will be four 3-bedroom luxury, single-floorapartments and a 4-bedroomduplex penthouse covering twofloors plus 10,300 sq ft of highquality office space.”
