Standard Minimums
All cutouts for metal or wood vision panels must be a minimum of 5” (152 mm) from the edge of the door and/or other cutouts for louvers, locks, closers or other hardware.
This 5” (152 mm) distance must be maintained or the fire label and warranty will be voided. For non-fire rated doors, the distance may be decreased to 5” (127 mm). Less than 5” (127 mm) may affect the warranty
Using a 10” (254 mm) margin between the edge of the door and the edge of any cutout near the lock area will eliminate most label and warranty conflicts.
* A variance in the downset of flush mouldings may occur due to allowable tolerance deviations of com-ponents.
** Lip mouldings only are available for Thermal Fused Doors.

Corner mounted flush bolts having mortised cutouts greater than 3/4" wide and 1" deep have a tendency to flare out (flushbolt flare).Flare-out of door corners and any functional problems resulting from hardware preparations requiring removal of core material at door corners is not considered a manufacturing defect under the manufacturer warranty. Delamination or breakage due to mishandling at the corner is common and is not considered a manufacturing defect. If this type of flush bolt is required, Masonite Architecture Wood Doors requires the use of one of the following to maintain warranty on the door.
a. Flush bolt end caps, supplied by others (see detail). End caps are not provided by Masonite Architecture Wood Doors.
b. Astragal/edge set (must be specified on order). Flush bolt end cap. End cap fits over the top rail so the bolt can protrude through the hole.
Top flush bolt on mineral core doors:
Corner mount flush bolts required on fire rated doors must be used in conjunction with manufacture’s required fire listing approvals for use in wood doors. Flush bolts not intended for use in wood doors will not be covered under manufacture warranty.

Wood FramesArchitectural Accessories DetailWood Door Technical Manual
Masonite Architecture Wood Doors offers a complete line of non-rated frames to compliment our fire-rated frames. All of our frames feature the same high quality craftsmanship as our stile and rail doors and will match them beautifully. We use the same veneer and finishing products on both doors and frames, regardless of fire-rating.
Over the last 35 years we have found flat jambs to be the most economical, environmentally responsible, and highest quality in appearance and construction. Flat jambs are a much more stable product than other types of jambs, and the veneered frame will be of superior face materials.
We produce flat jambs with the door stops constructed of solid lumber: long, loose, and unmitered to be applied in the field. This allows for a perfect fit when the door is hung and latched. The frames themselves will be a veneered construction with the exception of Paint Grade jambs which may be solid lumber. The 1/16” veneer used on the stiles and rails of our doors is the same 1/16” veneer we use on our frames. These frames can also be used for side-lights or transoms.
Standard jamb thickness is 13/16” and standard door stop size is 5/8” x 1-1/2” as shown in the standard construction drawing above. We can also produce custom frames in other dimensions with few restrictions for non-rated jambs.
Note on Rabbetted JambsMasonite Architecture Wood Doors also offers non-rated rabbetted jambs, in both single and double rabbet. However, for continuity of products as well as conservation of resources, We HIGHLY RECOM-MEND that a flat jamb with a wider door stop (as necessary) be used in lieu of solid lumber rabbetted jambs. Fire-Rated rabbetted jambs are not available.
