About the project :

A competition held in 2012 for designing

the Contractor union in duhok and

Architect Ahmed Ali from Arrarat

company win the competition

The Architect’s concept is about

assembling the companies as squares

when united create the flipped triangle

contractor union, the architect tried to

create a glassed walls and shaded it

with lovers to decrease the solar

energy, a gradation in the cubes made it

lighter and easier to be observed, also

the building designed to be as a

monument located on a publick street.

Zozan City residential project:

Location: Duhok/Maseky

Company: chiay ararat co.

Construction years: 2009-2012

Area: 50 Acers

About the project: Architect Ahmed Ali joined the project in 2011 as a part time job for two years, supervised half of the project, designed many interiors, landscape design, designed the service area, and modified many villas.

Ali, the huge open spaces

made the design more

flexible and let the architect

to have more free space to

do his designs, Gypsum

board has been used in the

ceiling for decorations, the

green one for damp proofing.

Zozan city mosque

Area: 2000 m2

Construction year: N/A

Location: Duhok/Maseky/Zozan city

About the project: Architect Ahmed

designed this mosque depending on

the pure Islamic white cube (KABA)

without any ornaments or arcs that has

been added after the messenger’s

death to Islamic architecture, the

architect split the building from the

dome and lay it on a frame rounding

the building to add more spirituality to

the mosque and make it iconic by this

division, pushing the entrance inside to

have the surrounded welcoming

entrance, and rising a minaret point

simply, also the architect tried to give a

nature depth in the project by adding

a water line extended from the

entrance to encourage the walk way

from the main gate as it exists in taj

mahal, simple vertical rectangular

windows is enough simple to let the

required amount of light enter the

mosque prayer hall, finally the

architect tried to give the (mihrab)

main pray spot a tiny woody Islamic

ornament in a simple brown cube.

A skeleton system with 4 columns was

satisfy to carry the light ceiling

specialty that the dome wasn’t laid on

the ceilings .

Zozan city extension apartment project

A proposal made by architect Ahmed Ali to build

a VIP apartment buildings 180 meter

square duplex, but the project is still under

evaluation in the investing institute of

Duhok city.

INTERIOR DESIGN OF BIG CHIEF

Function: RESTURANT AND CAFÉ

LOCATION : IRAQ-DUHOK-KRO STREET

About the project: Big chief Turkish restaurant chain designed to open a new branch in Duhok city, Ahmed Ali designed the restaurant with Iraqi domes to give spherical enclosure environment, divided the columns to half meter cubes with hidden light, using the light red colour instead of big chief chain dark red to be come more bright, most of the light is hidden and indirect to create more comfortable setting area, an open kitchen in the back with small bar made it a complete café and restaurant area.

goals is to inhanse the

architectural style in Iraq,

some of the projects have

been constructed and some

are still proposals because

there aren’t the necessary

technology to apply them in

Iraq yet.

About the project: the architect mixed the

international style with the Islamic

arcs to create light horizontal lines

with arcades

Project: Chalang house

Area: 150 m2

About the project: the main

problem faced the

architect was the

deficency of light

because the site was

directed north and

there is no sun light in

that elevation, so the

architect used covered

courtyard by double

volume hall, open

system plan, three

domes skylight and

pure glass elevation.

added void spaces to make the

house more sculpturing

Working for dunya foam company, Ahmed Ali covered many elevations with

foam designs and these are two examples of the projects.

Fifth stage/Design project/Police college

in Duhok city

Graduation project

Concept: resumbiling the structure of

military academy in Iraq as four

soldiers called (hadhera)

resembled as a square, each 16

solider called (sriya) so the square

multiplied as following.

Using the military levels as triple lines for

windows.

The student made a complete research

thesis about the project available in

the library of Duhok university

Fifth stage/urban infill

About the project: Redeveloping a heritage area in

zakho/duhok called Jakchy neighborhood by

opening a vehicle street, removing the

demolished houses in the main street edge

and suggesting a mall and in the river side a

cafeteria.

Concept of the mall: the old houses plan was as a

small boxes deformed grid, so the architect

took this grid and made a straight line grid with

some boxed rise to become shapes and some

staid low to create lobbies and paths.

Left many voids in the mall elevation to connect the

old neighborhood with the river visually.

Project goal: sustainability

About the project: the architect tried to apply

sustainability approach by directing all

buildings to the rose wind, green roofs for

pedestrian to walk in, connecting the

apartment buildings by paths to create

high level communication society, using

the kurdish cloth waste binder like circles

start from the canter to create the

mosque, then spread it on the site to

create the low rise houses and apartment

buildings, the apartment design was taken

from the Kurdish cup ornaments, also

there were detached three store villas on

the top level of the cantor line.

About the project: the site was

on the river ditch of

khabor in zakho city-west

of Duhok, the concept was

taken form Kurdish pine

called (kaj), the student

used the rotations in its flit

and made the plan of the

project, divided the site to

areas for sitting, playing,

viewing and other places

on the river bended with

the project.

Forth stage/Architectural theory/Twist tower model

Ahmed Ali made the model of twist tower in Spain designed by

santiago calatrava, the nine cube twisted building, each

cube has 9 degree twisting.

Forth stage/Interior design/first semester/Antique Gallery shop

About the project: a half sphere in the Medill of the shop with

low light power when someone come near any antique this

antique light in a bubble so he can focus on this anique

details only then when move another antique will light up

by sincere, even the curves that hold the glass sphere also

have strip of glasses abstracted from camera film recorder

strip. Using the blue, black, white and yellow light only to

create BLACK MOON ANTIQUE GALERY.

Forth stage/Interior design/kitchen design

About: the kitchen designed on the siryal school of art like

Salvador Dali paintings, weird fixtures like chairs fall

down from the ceiling, rainbow sink, moving walls and

ceiling and some courage colors.

First stage/Design/first semester

Designing a composition of triangle and square and made it

a collage, Ahmed Ali took the hiest mark and get a

Hold on his work.
