Steps for Sketching the Plan
1. Sketch the floor plan – exterior/interior walls, doors, windows.
2. Sketch the symbols for plumbing fixtures to be connected to plumbing system.
3. Sketch house drain, soil stacks, vents, and clean-
outs.

Steps for Sketching the Plan
4. Connect plumbing fixtures and floor drains to the house drain. Show fittings and secondary vents.
5. Sketch building main for water supply system. Connect water supply piping to water heater, water softener, and hose bibs.
6. Sketch cold and hot water mains, include shutoff valves.

7. Sketch cold water and hot water branch lines, include shutoff valves.
8. Show pipe sizes.
9. Include Plumbing Fixture Schedule and include symbol legend.
10. Add the scale and title block. Check drawing for accuracy.

CADD Draw The Plumbing Plan
Follow steps 1-10 on the previous slides.
The procedure for drawing a plumbing plan using standard CADD software is basically the same as for “sketching” with pencil.
