MANIFESTO:

AEOLOTROPIC:“Synergy created combining different physical properties in different positions or directions.”

METABOLIC RESPONSE:Wind generated power and passive cooling with knowledge of prevailing wind (air flow). Designed as a gateway tower to a new development in Abu Dhabi, Aeolotropic Towers acts as a symbol as to the wealth and great traditions of the Islamic culture. Intertwined [Bifurcation] program consists of whole dynamic hybrid of specific fusion of commercial and cultural functions. This new organization whose unity produces a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Site location is derived from scalar perspectives upon approach to Saadiyat Island. This gateway location allows for future development to bridge west and East of the freeway. The mass transport hub acts as an intense pivot node from which transitions are expected with activity.

MANIFESTO:

Our design philosophy pushes us to rigorously engage with the Ecological Urban systems that surroundus. We strive for flexibility in an evolving ecosystem and for a harmonious bond with natural ecologies. Aworking balance of pervious and impervious surfaces must be established in conjunction with the needsof a complex transverse urban condition.

Creating a vision for Diridon, San Jose_2050:Building systems be completely self-aware, self-efficient in energy production and usage moving beyondnet-zero city models of 2010 to built living system environment of the future cities. The built-living systemsare symbiotic with nature and cultivating “energy” producing community.

Integrated Design: Design/Build/fabrication collaboration will occur in all system phases throughout. This process will be based an interwoven network of design professionals, engineers, biologist, researchersand urban planners sharing/communicating present or in hologram tech information instantly with acommon vision and goal. The ecology of the individual depends on the team for key design moves andprogress

This project called for an adaptive change of use from an existing retail to proposed commercial childcare center occupancy on the third floor of three floors. My role as Project Manager included coordination of constructiondocuments, city and planner consultation, contractor communication andRFI and RFQ submittal as well as code analysis and design team lead.

Interior non-structural demolition and renovation with Design-Build MEP. Reconfigured existing parking lot to include newplayground area and designed perimeter barriers.

This project called for new construction of a two-story 4,460 S.F. 6 bedroom 6 1/2 bath, single family residence with attached 2 -cargarage. The new dwelling waste-water disposal system was designed in accordance to the strict City of Malibu waste wate management requirements (CDP) being that the house was built on the Pacific Ocean.

My role in the project was overseeing the construction detailing and documents for permitting. Communication with all consultants involved including working directly with the structural engineer on various design changes and permiting issues. I was also involved with 3D design modeling studies showing butterfly roof form change to a flat design with extended fascia projections.

BRENTWOOD LOS ANGELES, CA.JSTAFF ARCHItect 2008

This major addition and complete renovation ofan existing three level residence is located on a downward sloped site. Major additions included two new bedroom/bath suites. Contemporary detailing called for commercial storefront door and windows along with hot-dipped galvanized sheet metal cladding and roofing applied in a shingle and cleat fashion. My role as project manager/ designer included completion of all construction details, construction documents and working directly with contractor, engineer and city planners and permit officials. A direct Relationship with client was built under introduction from the architect, which allowed for direct design decisions to be incorporated into the project. I also developed 3D massing model studies for client presenta-tion and design development stages.

PENTHOUSE CONDO TENANT IMPROVEMENT & RENOVATION10800 WILSHIRE BOULEVARD LOS ANGELES, CA.JSTAFF ARCHITECT 2009

This two story penthouse Tenant Improvementproject called for concise contemporary detailing and first hand knowledge of specificlighting systems. The client requested an acoustical interior with low reverberant qualities for every living space in the condo.

Tenant Improvements to this new partially built-out three bedroom condo located on the23rd and 24th floors of a residential high-rise included installation of a new steel and glass stairs/guardrail design. Modifications and upgrades of all MEP systems and removal and reconstruction of non-bearing interior partition walls.

My role included: Project Management with respect to completing Construction Documents, negotiations with City planners and permit staff and working directly with the contractor and project engineer on all structural upgrades. Special project coordina-tion on my part included the subcontractor involved in the custom glass tread staircase as the showcase of the penthouse condominium unit.

This major renovation of an existing single level commercial interior was to be used for aprivate sports and memorabilia museum. Interior spaces include conference and sports lobby with associated office, kitchen and private storage rooms. Sports memoribilia museum wing has been phase 3 of 4 to a larger commercial development on the overall site.

My role involved included schematic design through construction documents and drafting. I also acted in supporting role in permitting and city planning. 3D design visualization and creation was requested by the owner to view the interior museum lighting and layout requirements.

The Marin History Rocks exhibition celebrates Marin’s music community in this museum in San Rafael. The exhibition includes state of the art interactive presenta-tions, rare film and video footage and in-depth oral histories. Displays feature the history of Marin’s bands, recording studios, clubs and sound inovations and will showcase unique artifacts and music ephemera.

My role as an independent contractor at Academy Studios included producing all construction documents, design-build details of the exhibitry, coordination of lighting and acoustics to subcontractors, working directly client base and Project managers. The reception desk as a gateway to the museum was designed with all reclaimed and sustainable materials and build locally in Marin county.
