Architecture (Master of Arts) Application period 15–31 May for the following winter semester Duration of study and degree qualification Standard period of study: 4 semesters Degree: Master of Arts (M.A.) Entrance requirements General Higher Education Entrance Qualification B.A. or comparable study course Sufficient knowledge of German Artistic talent Documents to be submitted with applications Completed application form Detailed CV in tabular form, outlining relevant achievements Unauthenticated photocopy of the university entrance qualification certificate or most recent school report Certificate of university graduation, foreign certificates have to be handed in as certified translation (German or English) Foreign Applicants from the People’s Republic of China must obtain a certificate from Academic Evaluation Centre www.aps.org.cn Proof of knowledge of German: Minimum requirement (to have been fulfilled by the final deadline for applications): proof of linguistic ability equivalent to level B1 Requirement for study (to have been fulfilled before matriculation): proof of linguistic ability equivalent to level C2 A portfolio should be in paper form, and not larger than A3 ( 420 mm X 297 mm).This forms the basis of your application and must be of an excellent quality. Please affix the last page of the application form which contains your application number on to your portfolio. Short report regarding projects, including practical experience (max. one page DIN A 4) Where applicable: documentation of courses completed and examinations taken Please send the complete set of application documents to the address given on the application form. When submitting by post, please send your portfolio to the following address: Universität der Künste Berlin Studiengang Architektur Einsteinufer 43-53 D-10587 Berlin Germany Important information regarding portfolios: Due to tax regulations, German customs will hold any portfolios that have a value declared on the package, until the import tax is paid. Please do, therefore, not declare a value. The Berlin University of the Arts will not pay the import tax, nor can it negotiate the terms of delivery with the tax office. Entrance examination As a rule, these take place in June/July. Students will be selected for interview on the strength of the portfolio submission. The interview process will involve a set design task as well as an interview with the admissions committee. Applicants from other universities Students who have completed a 4 year bachelor programme are eligible for the Masters programme at the UdK Berlin. Students who show suitable creative ability but have only finished a 3 year bachelors programme, will be admitted to a UdK Master preparation class, 2 semesters in length. In this instance, the Masters course will be 6 semesters (3 years) in duration, rather than 4 semesters (2 years).
