TO SEE and BE SEENWASHINGTON DC
Architecture/urban designTo See and Be Seen, mixed useHostel, Observation tower (15 stories), retail and offices
To See and Be Seen is inspired by the grand central stairs fromthe Opera House in Paris. The public space created engagesthe public and encourages social interactions amongst the people. Every space reinforces the concept of seeing and beingseen, the facade system, the skywalks, the observation stations(glass boxes) and the main atrium space.

The Meeting Plaza is the future office for the elsewhere class, for the design professionals on the go where they can comework and play. Rentable workspaces with series of layers ofmeeting places and informal spaces that relate back to thecity with urban mix of interconnected programs that not onlyserve the people on the go but also the overworking residentsof Montecito Heights. The building is a topographical structure, interconnected artificial and natural landscape with system ofstacked plate like pieces.

HYDROSCRAPERSNEW YORK CITY
URBAN DESIGN-FALL 2011EVOLO COMPETITIONTEAM MEMBER: ELLERT HREINSSON
In lieu of constructing dykes to keep the water out, wepropose to mitigate flooding in Lower Manhattan byletting the water in through soft riparian edges, resuming New Yorks colonial era shoreline. Thecurrent shoreline will be demarcated with new urbanhydrology infrastructural systems: reservoir islands, hydroelectric water falls, and an aerial tram replacingthe circumference highway. Attracting Manhattans citizenry to its soft waterfrontwith recreational uses highlights these clustersof a hydroelectric waterfall, islands reservoirs, and aerial transportation, raising awareness of the value of water for life support with societal vigilance. This system is a prototype that can be adapted to other cities.
Think of nature as part of the experience in New York City. It is all around us we just have to be aware to see it.

THE CULTURAL CONNECTION HUB The new Gateway to the city
REWEAVING THE URBAN FABRIC IN REYKJAVIK, ICELAND
RECREATIONAL NETWORK pedestrian routes and spaces
REVITALIZE PUBLIC SPACE
ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION hydrogen busses, bicycle routes and rents, trails
Every culture, every country, wants to have a sense of pride, a sense of belonging and every climate within that culture wants exceptions, when it is cool you want it be warmer and vice versa. Reweaving the urban fabric of Reykjavik transforms the urban gathering experience with geothermal energy and light by forming a social gathering place within the heart of Reykjavik that embraces its local culture and climate, by creating diverse and different types of microclimates.
The inspiration for the project comes from the icelandic traditional turfhouse were people used to gather in the hearth of the house surrounding the fireplace to keep warm. The fireplace becomes a symbol of light, warmth, belongingness and companionship.
