ARCITechEx2017

ARCI celebrated 20 successful years of research, development and technology transfer in the

field of materials and processes through “ARCITechEx2017” during February 27-28,

2017 at ARCI Campus, Balapur, Hyderabad. The objective of the “ARCITechEx2017” was

to showcase ARCI’s technologies. This platform was also used to explore business

opportunities with technologies developed at ARCI in the fields of materials and

manufacturing, specifically in the areas of surface engineering and fuel cell technology. The

Technology Exposition (ARCI TechEx 2017) was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Y.S.

Chowdary, Hon’ble Minister of State for S&T and Earth Sciences. Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy,

Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri and Director General, Missiles and Strategic Systems

graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The event also included a panel discussion on

“Materials and Manufacturing Technologies – Future Perspectives” by eminent

scientists and technocrats. The deliberations provided a unique platform to understand the

national and global status of the materials and manufacturing technologies and provided

directions to evolve relevant research vision in the area. Business opportunity workshops on

Surface Engineering and Fuel Cell Technologies, real life demonstration of the technologies

and interactions with the scientists were also the major attraction of the event. Elaborate

National Science Day celebrations were also being organized on February 28, with lectures

by eminent scientists Prof. P. Rama Rao and Prof. V.S. Ramamurthy – both former

secretaries to the government of India – DST. The Science Day lectures were focused to

motivate science and engineering students towards research. The event was attended by

more than 500 delegates including government officials; scientists and technologists from

industry, R&D organizations and academic institutions. Entrepreneurs and representatives

from 97 industrial organizations looking for new technologies, solutions and technology

based business opportunities could effectively utilize this event. About 175 engineering and

science students attended Science Day Lectures and visited technology exposition.
