FAITH FORMATION:

Mrs. Vasquez Pre- K4 Class

We have been busy learning many great things in our classroom. Our traditional students as well as our Dis-tance Learners have learned a daily routine for school. Both groups are excelling in participation and getting their class work done. I’m very proud of our Pre-K4 class and their progress this school year.

In Religion, we continue to practice the proper way to make the sign of the cross. We say our prayers in the morning, at lunch time, and before we leave school. We talked about being good servants and the children were excited to learn even at the tender age of 4 and 5 they can be good servants too. Holding a door open for a class-mate, making cards for the sick, and helping around the classroom makes them good servants. Everyone has an important job to follow Jesus’ teachings. We have learned we are all children of God and we are all worthy of God’s love. We thank him daily for our many blessings.

In our reading program, Curiosity Corner, we are busy singing our alphabet song, learning letter sounds, and be-ginning to identify the first letter of words. This week our students have been introduced to the letter D. We talked about things that begin with the letter D and learned the sound that it makes. We played detectives walking around our classroom looking for things that start with the letter D and the children were so excited to see the number of things we found.

In Math, we have learned about patterns and have identi-fied a variety of patterns. We colored pattern cores, AB patterns, created an ABC pattern, and identified missing parts of a pattern.

In Science, we learned bears and other animals eat plenty food during the fall season to keep them full until they awake for spring. We know what different animals do during the cold weather. Bears hibernate, geese migrate, and squirrels adapt during winter.

Our class has adjusted very well with the not so normal way of school this year and continue to work hard at learning, identifying, and playing. We thank the wonder-ful St. Gregory Community for your continued support and prayers.

Candlemas & Lumen Gentium Award February 2, 2021 @ 7:00pm

In this special Mass we celebrate the Presentation of the Lord, the Purification of Mary and blessing of candles. The candle represents Christ the light of the world and can be lit on special occasions like the day of your Baptism, Communion, Confirmation or Birth-day. Please purchase your candle at the Church Of-fice. The Lumen Gentium Award will also be given to a special couple for the volunteer work they have done for the church. This award is usually given by the Archbishop of San Antonio but during these time we will celebrate it at the parish level. Hope to see you there.

Misa de la Candelaria y Premio de Lumen Gentium 2 de febrero 2021 @ 7:00pm

En esta misa especial celebramos la Presentación del Señor en el Templo, la Purificación de María y la ben-dición de velas. La vela representa a Cristo, la Luz del Mundo y bendicen su hogar. Las velas se pueden comprar a través de la Oficina Parroquial por $5. También se dará el premio Lumen Gentium a un pa-rroquiano que se ha ofrecido como voluntario para nuestra iglesia por muchos años. El Arzobispo de San Antonio usualmente da este premio, pero este año lo celebraremos aquí.
