Weaving stories andmusical imagery.Best known for his clever hooks, physical slap-stick comedy, and wacky puppetry, this celebrated, Juno Award winning entertainer spreads the joy of music, theatre, and laughter wherever he performs. Encouraging and inspiring youth today to believe in their own ideas, Norman Foote will collaborate with nearly 100 local elementary school students to present an exuberant and light-hearted concert loaded with personality. Merging his theatrical and comedic talents with the creative energy of the kids on stage, together they’ll present an interactive and engaging performance as part of St. Albert’s StArts Fest and Canada’s Culture Days.

Side-splitting comedy and drumming virtuosity.Quebec’s turbo-charged percussive trio electrifies crowds with its frenzied rhythms and deliriously funny sketches. Armed with drumsticks, their trademark blue barrels, and a limitless imagination, BAM! presents an explosion of drumbeats matched impeccably to comedic scenarios. Appearing like characters straight out of a cartoon, their transcultural humour and contagious energy will have audience members aged 3 to 83 laughing to the point of tears! For nearly 15 years, BAM! have shared fun and foolery with audiences around the world and their beat of the drum shows no sign of slowing down.

On Family Day weekend, Grammy Award winning ensemble, Turtle Island Quartet, presents an engaging and accessible musical showcase that draws comparisons between the interactions of instruments and the dynamic of family life. Through audience participation, find out what makes a violin, viola, and cello uniquely different and why they each have an important voice. Clap along to multiple genres of rhythms, from classical to rock to jazz, in a rousing afternoon of musical conversations.

Created by The Tate Movie Project for London 2012’s Cultural Olympiad, this first-of-its-kind animated film was fuelled by the creative drawings, thoughtful story ideas, and unique sound effects submitted by over 34,000 children.
