Dilemmas and SolutionsThe assessment dilemma. Assessment helps understand which programs or activities are successful and creates value determinations for resource allocation and departmental planning. Yet, building, administering and maintaining these assessment instruments are often viewed as a time-consuming process. Many times, projects central to student affairs policy will simply not get done due to the logistics and time involved, which can be detrimental to decision-making and accreditation processes.

The assessment solution. It’s hard enough to keep programs and activities functioning effectively. Departments often have other priorities.
