Fujikura has started delivering harnesses for large-sized cruise ships being built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. The

cruise ships under construction for Carnival Corporation & plc's AIDA Cruises brand is the largest built in Japan with a

gross tonnage of 125,000 and 3,250 passenger capacity. The harness combines two companies' knowhow and

techniques. Fujikura applied its knowhow to produce electric cables for ships. Nishi Nippon Electric Wire and Cable, a

Fujikura Group member, also used its techniques for designing wiring for home and forming harnesses, which the

company excels in. The product is designed to ensure safety using a halogen-free material with high flame-retardant

characteristics. Assembling cables into a harness already achieved labor savings at the construction site, and besides,

producing a flat harness allowed substantial space savings in the ship, where wiring space is limited. In addition, our

production system was highly regarded for reading wiring length and cable type data that vary among rooms off a

drawing and forming a harness.

Major Features

■ Significant labor and space savings by designing flat-type harness

■ Safety-minded design with high flame-retardancy and eco-friendliness

■ Production system for assembling cables to form harnesses by reading wiring length and cable type from drawings

Fujikura has developed a multi-fiber optical connector for ultrahigh definition imaging devices including 4k/8k super-high

vision broadcasting devices used at studios and started delivering the product. Association of Radio Industries and

Businesses (ARIB) has established the standards of Interface for UHDTV Production Systems B-58 ver. 1.0, which

standardized our optical connector. Being attachable to both ends of a 24-fiber optical cable, the connector contributes

to the realization of high-density optical interconnection and reductions in time needed for connecting and disconnecting.

Major Features

■ Capable of more than 5000 times of connecting/disconnecting cycles

■ 24-fiber connector of size equivalent to conventional BNC connector

■ Bayonet connection by only rotating the coupling

■ Use of O ring for com water and dust

Outline of Optical Cable System with MPO Connector and Its BenefitThis optical cable system enables high-density mounting by the use of 12-fiber MPO connectors and labor saving at

working sites and higher performance by systematization and the use of connectors. The system is the most suitable for

data center use. The system also offers high expandability because of its easy upgradability to 40 GbE or 100 GbE by

just changing modules and patch codes once 10 GbE has been constructed.

October 7 (Tue.) to 11(Sat) 2014 10:00 - 17:00

Fujikura will be exhibiting at CEATEC JAPAN 2014 to be held in

October.

This exhibi t ion is one of Asia's largest comprehensive

exhibitions related to the IT and electronics industries. This

year's exhibition has the theme of “NEXT - Technology Makes

the Future”. Key Technology Stage, where our products will be

on display, will bring together world's cutting-edge electronic

components and device-related technologies.

Fujikura's exhibits will include yttrium-based high-temperature superconducting wire rods, cables for photovoltaic

power generation, flexible printed circuit boards, electronic wires, and fiber lasers. These products represent our

"Tsunagu" (connection) technologies and will let you know about their contribution in wide areas of our life

ranging from social infrastructures to mobile devices.

We are very looking forward to meeting you at our booth.

Chubu Telecommunications Co., Inc. (CTC) has just decided to use a Fujikura optical cable system with multi-fiber MPO

connectors for its LAN network in its Nagoya Marunouchi Data Center. Marunouchi Data Center is the newest urban

data center located in the center of Nagoya City.

This optical cable system conforms to ANSI/TIA-568-C3 standards focusing on realization of dense, space-saving,

expandable wiring to provide high-quality, high-reliability cloud services. The optical system is thus most suitable for data

center use. The product based on our highly precise connection techniques and quality control system will further

contribute to the advancement of high-quality, high reliable cloud services.

Optical communications take on more importance as the volume of data traffic has been increasing due to the

proliferation of FTTH, smartphones and cloud services. Fujikura has developed new type Magetsuyo, a high-abration

resistance and low-friction cable most suitable for installation in communications facilities. This product uses

bending-loss insensitive fiber and high-abration resistance sheath and has excellent easily cable- handling. Furthermore,

this product uses a new type of low-friction cable sheath and thus demonstrates its outstanding performance in

removing cables or installing additional cables.
