Another veteran Aries cricketer hangs uphis boots!

Aries Cricket will definitely be found poorer afterthis year, as Sarath, our veteran wicket keeper formany years announced his retirement from cricket. He follows the footsteps of Prabhiraj, ourevergreen all-rounder who had announced hisplans to quit Aries cricket after this years Annualmatches.

In a mail circulated amongst the staff, Sarath says I t hink it is time for me to retire from Aries Cricket

Team. We have also seen lots of emerging young

talents during the Sharjah Stadium matches whocan represent Aries Group, now a known team in

Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman & UAQ cricket circles. It is easy to stop. Please make sure the game is

continued in good spirits and taken to higher

levels... Thanks for all the support given.

Arise! has been a vocal critic of the veterans ofAries cricket for quite some t ime now. However, there is one important aspect that was brought tolight by another of our veterans, who says it is nowdifficult for managing the minimum quorum of 11players on a game day!

It is a wake-up call to the youngsters, who aresupposed to take over the mantle It is not onlyplaying that our veterans excelled in, but alsoORGANISING the game booking grounds, arranging matches, ensuring team attendance, purchasing cricket gear and so on. This is where theyoungsters are YET to prove themselves.

The challenge was thrown by Prabhiraj. Whilecongratulating Sarath on his achievements, he addsSomebody should now take the responsibil ity and

this game should go on. It is easy for non-playing

captains to cry for retirement. Let us see who allcould carry on with cricket after 30 and marriage.

Outsiders don't even know the pain behind in

organizing a team and other arrangements.

While we reject Prabhirajs contention that onlythose who play cricket have the right to crit icize theplayers, we do join him in endorsing the challengeto the young cricketers in Aries.

The permission was granted after a meetingrecently convened by the Union shippingsecretary, sources here said. The proposal for adedicated facility for receiving shipment ofcooking gas was proposed in 2009 by Indian Oil

Corporation. The project was meant to solve theproblem of the perennial shortage of LPG in theState.

A State government review of the project in thesecond half of 2011 had found out that theproposal for the LPG jetty was almost in anabandoned stage. Solar powered ship first to circumnavigateglobe

Last week the worlds largest ship running solely onthe power of the sun cruised into Hercule Harbor inMonaco, officially completing the worlds firstcircumnavigation for a 100% solar powered ship.

The vessel, a 31m catamaran named MS 'TranorPlanetSolar' , is equipped with 537 square meters ofsolar panels used to recharge 6 blocks of lithium-ion batt eries with every sunrise. Rated to 93 kW,the propulsion package and efficient hull designgenerates enough power for the vessel to reachspeeds of up to fourteen knots.

The 'Tranor PlanetSolar' is the brainchild ofRaphael Domjan of Switzerland, who in the Springof 2004 first envisioned the expedition based on hislove of Jules Vernes novels. Years later, construction began at the Knierim Yachtbaushipyard in Germany and she was eventuallylaunched in March 2010.

Finally, in September 2010, the MS 'TranorPlanetSolar' left Monaco with a four-man crew inhopes of sailing around the world strictly on solarpower. Nineteen months later; after crossing the

Atlantic and Pacific, passing through both Panamaand Suez canals, and navigating the treacherouswaters of the Gulf of Aden, 'Tranor PlanetSolar'completed its journey, breaking records for fastestcrossing of the Atlantic Ocean by solar boat andlongest distance ever covered by a solar electricvehicle along the way.

Now, the journey will be put together into a bookand documentary film scheduled to be released inSeptember. The vessel itself will undergo aretrofitting to allow for more passengers and willbe available for charter to adventurers looking for abit of green history.
