Jo in us in our Seventh Season a t Arizona’s premier professional dinner theatre, as we raise the curtain on a thri l l ing l ineup of award-winning musicals that promise to charm, inspire, enthrall and amuse!

March 2 - April 8, 2012

Few musicals make their way into the American mainstream the way A Chorus Line has since its Broadway debut in 1975. The show provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and choreographer as they describe the events that shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. Winner of a mind-boggling nine Tony Awards, A Chorus Line also boasts a Pulitzer Prize-winning score that includes “What I Did for Love,” “Dance: Ten; Looks: Three,” and the iconic finale, “One.”

Meredith Willson, the author of The Music Man and The Unsinkable Molly Brown, sets to music the classic story of an elderly gentleman (hired to play Santa Claus at Macy’s) who claims that he really is Santa Claus! This hilarious and charming show brings about a genuine “Miracle on 34th Street” as a wave of love spreads throughout New York City (including rivals Macy’s and Gimbels) and convinces a divorced, cynical single mother and her somber daughter that there really is a Santa Claus.

Based on one of the most celebrated and beloved films of all time starring the inimitable Gene Kelly, Singin’ in the Rain is set in 1920’s Hollywood during the waning days of the silent film era. This zany, light-hearted romantic comedy focuses on romantic lead Don Lockwood, his sidekick Cosmo Brown, aspiring actress Kathy Selden, and Lockwood’s leading lady Lina Lamont, whose less-than-appealing vocal tones make her an unlikely candidate for stardom in talking pictures. You’ll want to kick your feet up as you’re transported to yesteryear in this dazzling production.

Sunset Boulevard. The two words conjure up Tinseltown and glamour. The Academy Award-winning film lifted Gloria Swanson to icon status for her portrayal as the faded silent film actress Norma Desmond, who dreams of making a triumphant return to the screen while living in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street. The winner of seven Tony Awards, Sunset Boulevard boasts a beautiful, lush score by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber (Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Evita).

April 20 - May 27, 2012Tarzan swings its way onto the Arizona Broadway Theatre stage with technical and lighting wizardry galore! With music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning composer Phil Collins, Tarzan faithfully re-tells the Disney tale of an orphaned boy raised in the jungle, the difficulties he encounters as he tries to fit in, and the dangers encountered when the worlds of Man and Wild collide. ABT brings you the Arizona premiere of this breathtaking production.

One of the best-known and most-loved musicals of all time bursts on the scene in Arizona Broadway Theatre’s all-new production. The Pink Ladies have never looked better and the Greasers are as slick as ever in this blockbuster hit that explores the teen-age complexities of love, cars and drive-ins. Get reacquainted with Sandy, Danny, Rizzo, Kenicke, Frenchie, Jan, Doody, Marty and the rest of the class at Rydell High.

The Will Rogers Follies focuses on the life and career of famed humorist and performer Will Rogers (“Oklahoma’s favorite son”). Using the Ziegfeld Follies as a backdrop, Follies describes the episodes of Rogers’ life in spectacular production numbers and conveys the personality of this quintessentially American figure using snippets of his famous homespun style of wisdom and common sense. Follies was the winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Award for Best Musical.

Arizona Broadway Theatre proudly adds another classic play to its production roster. The Odd Couple, the Tony Award-winning masterpiece by Neil Simon, had its debut in 1965. Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat freak newswriter – having been thrown out by his wife – moves in with his friend Oscar Madison, a messy sportswriter. The Broadway play ran for nearly 1,000 performances and inspired not only a successful film, but also the TV series starring Tony Randall and Jack Klugman.
