We are working hard as a school team to make sure that you have sufficient work, which is interesting and which supports your educational journey, while you remain at home. We are also planning for the re-opening of school – although we don’t yet know when that will be! This week marks the 6th in lockdown and the first full week of Ramadan which many in our community are celebrating. Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, doing good deeds and spending time with family and friends; the lockdown makes some of this more challenging, but technology does enable us to connect and celebrate with our loved ones. Both Ramadan and learning remotely, while school is closed, require resilience and self-discipline. I know that you are all working very hard on both. We have all had more time for reflection and I hope that this reflection has allowed us to value some of the things we may have taken for granted: precious time with family and friends, being at school, connecting with our peers, learning from our teachers, enjoying travelling with and visiting friends and family, hugs, smiles and much much more. Despite what we are missing, there is so much to celebrate including all the brilliant work you have done. I am so proud of all your efforts and look forward to a time when we can share this work in our school building. Look after yourselves and I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Ramadhan Kareem

The Religious Education Department would like to wish all of our students and families who are observing the month of Ramadhan, Ramadhan Kareem.

Ramadhan or Sawm, is the requirement to fast during the Islamic month of Ramadhan. It is the third of the Five Pillars of Islam. Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, and special because it was the month the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) first began to receive revelations of the Qur'an from Allah. This is a special month whereby Muslims take every opportunity to worship God as much as they can. Ramadhan Kareem from Ark Victoria.

AVA Virtual Art Gallery

Welcome to the new AVA virtual gallery; a great way to display how you are being creative whilst at home. Exhibiting Artdemonstrates how you are developing skills, knowledge, understanding and an appreciation of art, whilst also building a senseof pride and ownership in your school…plus a little bit of competition!

Creating Art is a wonderful activity for the whole family to enjoy, to follow up after a walk or a virtual tour of a museum online.Art is able to consolidate great memories and enjoyment and can also be relaxing and therapeutic too.

There will be a weekly activity for the whole family to enjoy as well as the Art lessons on Teams and in the Home Learningsections on our website; so with that in mind, we hope is that students and parents will get creative and share their Art for thewhole of our community to enjoy. You may even receive a reward for your efforts!

For a chance to exhibit your wonderful creations on our gallery, take a photograph of your completed work and email itwith your name and year group to: [email protected]

If you're looking for ways to get involved in something creative but have limited materials at home, take a look at these apps thatcan be downloaded to your devices.

Sketches (iOS app) is elegant and a good tool for older kids. It has no stamps or distractions, so it helps them concentrate ondrawing. They can import photos into it, and also watercolour a drawing. There is a free and a Pro version, and the free versiongenerously allows users to try most features.https://www.tayasui.com/sketches/sketches-video.html

Scribblify (iOS and Android app) has a huge range of brushes, backgrounds and colours that encourage kids to play with colour, lines and symmetry. The Scribblify website explains the app well, but kids can pretty much start drawing with it instantly. Thebright colours and patterns will appeal to youngsters. It's free but you can pay for more tools in a Premium version.http://scribblify.com/
