Markets and Applications

Agrochemicals: MIPA – DIPA - B2A - MEA - DEA – TEA

Alkylamines are important chemical intermediates forthe manufacture of many types of herbicides, pesticides andinsecticides.

MIPA is used for the neutralization of glyphosate in the formulation of herbicides.B2A is a building block for some herbicidal chemicals (suchas organophosphorus and toluidine herbicides)

DEAPA, DMAPAPA and TMPDA are used as hardeners oraccelerators in some epoxy based adhesives or paints.

TEA is often utilized for the neutralization of various kinds ofresins.

Many API require the use of amines in their synthesissuch as TEA, DIPA, EMA, and DMEA.

Tertiary amines are also utilized as acid scavenger in many reactions, from moderate selectivity such as TEA to highselectivity such as EDIPA.

Pennstop®, based on DEHA technology, acts as oxygen scavenger in steam boilers and thus prevents corrosions ofthe metal parts.

MOPA and IPOPA acts as neutralizing agents of carbonic acidity. We also develop some new technologies as neutralizingagents or oxygen scavenger in order to replace hazardouschemistries.

Adhesives, Paints & Coatings: DEA - TEA - TMPDA - DEAPA – DMAPAPA – IPOPA

Pharmaceuticals: MEA - DEA – TEA - MIPA - DIPA - EMA – DMEA - EDIPA

Water treatment: DEHA - MOPA – IPOPA

Amines can be used as building blocks for wide range ofmonomers and polymers.DEHA is widely used as shortstopper and emergency killer in theradical polymerization of SBR in emulsion.

It also acts as monomer stabilizer to avoid their polymerizationduring storage (butadiene, styrene, chloroprene...).Term-N-ator P exhibits outstanding properties as shortstopperfor the polymerization of PVC in suspension.

Polymerization: DEHA

We propose a wide range of tertiary amines such as TEA,DMIPA and DMEA for the foundry industry.

They are used as catalyst in the manufacturing of sand corebound by a polyurethane resin.

Foundry & Resins: DMEA - DMIPA – TEA

Textile, Cosmetics, Perfume, Oil and Petrochemicalsindustry, Personal Care, Inks, Rubber…

This is a non-exhaustive list of the possible applications for Arkema’s amines.
