ADDENDUM NO. ONE FOR ARM AND HAMMER PARK STRUCTURAL REPAIRS PHASE II FOR THE MERCER COUNTY PARK COMMISSION

The proposal page was omitted from the bid document. A copy of the proposal page may be found on the next page and an Excel version of the form may be found on the County’s website.

Remove “STEEL CONTINGENCY, UNIT PRICES AND DEDUCTION” on Page 8-9 and replace with the modified version attached to this addendum.

S2-3 contains minor corrections to the drawing included in the bid package.

Q. Any spec on 6’’ gutter, downspouts or stone along with attachment details?

Gutters

-Fabricate and install 6” Aluminum gutter complete with end pieces, flashing at columns, outlet tubes, gutter bead reinforcing bars, and other accessories as required (from same metal as gutters).

-Attach Gutters to Concrete Seating Tiers using strap hangers

-Gutter Profile: Style A through L Permitted

-Continuous removable leaf screen with sheet metal frame and hardware cloth screen

-Aluminum Gutters: Min 0.040 inch thick

-See Drawing B and C on A-1.1 for more information

Downspouts

-Fabricate and install round or rectangular downspouts complete with mitered elbows. Furnish with metal hangers, from same material as downspouts, and anchors.

-Attach aluminum downspouts to steel columns using insulation to prevent galvanic corrosion.

-Aluminum Downspouts: Min 0.024 inch thick

-See Drawing B/A-1.1 for more information

Gravel

-No new gravel is required

-Downspout shall drain to existing grade under the seating bowl (towards playing field as shown on detail A-1.1/B)

Q. 4 ea locations for x-bracing , what size is gusset plate?

Existing gusset plates are ½” thick, +/-. Thicknesses and exact dimensions should be verified in the field by the contractor prior to ordering materials.

Q. Only 6 ea remove and replace W16x26, no remove and replace W27x84 correct? However the reinforcing plates for these beams are along the section 4 line correct?

All beams receiving reinforcing plates or angles are located on Grid 4. The construction documents show removal and replacement of (6) W16 beams. No W27 are required to be replaced, however any beam shown as receiving reinforcement may, at the contractor’s option, be replaced – see deduct description in specifications.

Q. Temp support designed by us? and when complete do we remove the tempo supports which were done by others?

Shoring documented on S1-0A and S1-0C shall remain in place throughout Phase 2 work and will be removed by the contractor who installed it, at the completion of work. Shoring indicated on S2-2A through S2-2C is new and part of the current project: design, installation, and removal will be performed by the successful bidder.

Q. Is the difference between large joint and small joint at our discretion?

-Per Detail D and E on A-1.1 Small joints are < 1 ½” and Large joints are > 1 ½”.

-The contractor is responsible for quantifying the linear feet of each prior to their bid.

Q. Does the A,B,C,D reinforcing go with the existing rakers? Can a more descriptive detail be provided to show exactly where each of these reinforcings are located?

Reinforcement types A, B, C, and D apply to beams along grid 4 as indicated on plans S2-2A, S2-2B & S2-2C. Extent of reinforcing indicated in plan is for bidding purposes. Steel must be cleaned and surveyed in order for designs to be confirmed per plan note 8.

STEEL CONTINGENCY ALLOWANCE The allowance is $15,000. Additions and deductions to the steel contract documented after award shall be tracked according to unit prices and classifications of steel defined in the UNIT PRICES paragraph. Contractor shall only be entitled to payment for changes to the steel contract that are approved by the Owner; any remaining balance within the Steel Contingency Allowance shall be credited to the Owner upon contract completion. UNIT PRICES Definition: Unit price is an amount proposed by bidders, stated on the Bid Form, and incorporated in the Agreement, applicable during the duration of the Work as a price per unit of measurement for materials, equipment or services, or a portion of the work or estimated quantities of Work, added to or deducted from the Contract Sum by appropriate modification, if the Scope of Work or estimated quantities of Work required by the Contract Documents are increased or decreased.

A. Unit prices shall include any and all costs necessary for the work including but not limited to engineering, shop drawings/submittals, detailing, materials, fabrication, ordering, delivery/mobilization, demolition, preparation, installation/erection, priming/painting, labor, tools and equipment, insurance, applicable taxes, overhead, all markups, and profit.

B. Provide unit prices for the items listed on the Bid Proposal Page in this document. DEDUCT ALTERNATE

A. Contract documents indicate replacement of (6) beams and reinforcement of (12) beams. At the contractor’s option, any or all of the (12) beams designated for reinforcement may be replaced with new steel beams of same size and connection to existing structure. New steel beams must be shop primed and coated with high performance coating system.

B. Contractor shall indicate in the bid which of these (12) beams will be replaced, and the TOTAL deduction associated with the replacement of the listed beams.

C. A bearing seat connection exists at each end of the W27 beams located between grids E-F and grids N-O. Remove seat connections from the column as required to erect the new steel beam. The existing seat connection may be re-installed, or a connection of equivalent capacity shall be provided.
