This happens only when we know that person well. Thus to delight in the Lord, we must know Him better. Knowledge of God's great love for us will indeed give us delight. COMING UP Sunday 11 October Feast of the Holy Translators— Blessing of Armenian School Teachers Celebrating the valuable contribution of our community teachers in the education of our future generations. Tuesday 13 October Armenian Genocide Centenary Ecumenical Service Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Church 94 Archer Street, Chatswood at 7p.m. Sunday 8 November Blessing of the Khachkar @ Beauchamp Park, Chatswood On the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide, in partnership with Willoughby City Council a memorial monument will be erected. The Khachkar project will see the master sculptor, Varaztad Hambardzumyan in Sydney when he will also conduct workshops. Sunday 19 November An Evening with Nuran Zorlu Following the launch of his book “Persia to Iran” the Diocese is delighted to host this event to support this important historical publication. Sunday 22 November Armenian Kermesse Celebrating our Food, Culture and Community After Badarak join in the fun and celebrations of our rich Armenian music, dance, food and games at the church grounds. Friday 11 September A community gathering was held in the Edgarian hall to mark the 30 th ordination anniversary of Reverend Father Norayr Patanian. The evening was celebrated with representatives from the church bodies, community organisations, family and friends. Presided by His Grace Bishop Haigazoun Najarian and hosted by the Church Council, the tributes to the Reverend Father resonated the devotion to his calling and ministry in service to God and the Armenian Church. The program included musical items and exceptional poetry recitations by his granddaughter’s Lara and Anita Keshishian. What is Kermesse? Kermesse or kermis is a familiar word in Europe and our Middle Eastern communities known as a festival of celebration that embraces feasting, dancing and games of all kinds. Derived from the Dutch language, 'kerk' (church) and 'mis' (mass) originally denoting the mass on the anniversary of the foundation of a church. Looyce Reaches A Milestone Our Church bulletin “Looyce” was first published in 1955 by the first priest to visit Australia, Archimandrite Assoghig Ghazarian. For the past 30 years, Fr Norayr Patanian has compiled Looyce with a team of volunteer helpers.
