armstrong anti hero

Lance Armstrong AntiHero? Jacob Montgomery Period 3 1. What is Ms. Fetters‘ claim? 1.1. Fetters is saying that Lance Armstrong is not all that he is made out to be. Although he was practically a celebrity before he was caught, he did not deserve the fame that was associated with his wins. 2. What evidence does Ms. Fetters offer to support her claim? 2.1. Fetters uses accounts from his teammates, that show that he was threatening them if they reported him, or didn’t use with him. He was also responsible for the defamation of a fellow rider, Simeoni, when he tried to report Armstrong’s doctor. 3. Pull out one passage from the article with which you agree and explain why you agree 3.1. “Armstrong’s story is a sad, powerful testament to the fact that the difference between a villain and an antihero is sometimes just that an anti hero has a compelling point of view that his audience is allowed to see.” I agree with this point, because there are several instances where when viewed from a different perspective, many antiheroes would be considered straightup villains. However, because we experience their point of view as well, we begin to see a side of them that points more towards being an antihero, instead of a villain. 4. Pull out one passage from the article with which you disagree and explain why you disagree 4.1. “But he’s nonetheless something like an antihero.” I disagree with this statement, as I don’t think Armstrong is an antihero, I think that he is simply a villain. 5. Is Lance Armstrong an antihero? 5.1. No, Lance Armstrong is not an antihero, he is a villain. Not only did he use illegal substances to exceed his own talent the several cycling competitions, but he also led on the American people into supporting him, and the violated their trust. He allowed hundreds of thousands of people to follow him, practically idolizing him, all while he was doing something that was obviously wrong, and he knew it. That is not even close to an antihero, that is behavior that a villain would have.
