th July Investiture Ceremony

1. The Investiture Ceremony signifies appointment of new leaders and the trust and confidence we repose in the invested office bearers wherein the student community is involved in the day to day functioning of the school. 2 To nurture students to be future leaders, APS, Birpur, held its Investiture Ceremony

on July 30, 2016, to bestow deserving APSians with the responsibility of leading the school from front for the academic session 2016-17. The event was presided over by the School Chairman Brig J.S Shekhawat SC, VSM. The parents of the newly appointed cabinet were also invited .It was conducted with a high degree of sincerity, gusto and enthusiasm. 3. The ceremony started with the formal welcome followed by the lighting of lamp whose flames were a guide towards wisdom and divinity.. 4. Badges and sashes were bestowed to the elected students by the Chief Guest and the invited dignitaries. With the vigorous beats of the drums and a marching tune, the new council marched on to the stage their heads held high and hearts filled with pride as each picked up their house flags. 5. The newly elected council members pledged to work earnestly, to keep the school motto of loyalty, truth & honour in high esteem and to be true to their assigned posts and duties. Apart from their duty towards School, these representatives also pledged their service towards nation and environment. 6. The Head Boy and the Head Girl then delivered their acceptance speech after conduct of oath. 7. The Chairman congratulated the newly elected council members and stressed on setting priorities and the need to be great communicators. He reminded them that they were the torch bearers of all the values that the school stands for and urged them to take up their responsibility with commitment and integrity. 8. He laid stress on the need to become more focused in their goals and to inculcate leadership qualities to become a better person in life. He reminded them that with position comes responsibility towards themselves and towards their school and peers. He advised them to take up their duties sincerely with full commitment and also to be role - models for other students. The ceremony concluded with the reciting of the national anthem. Amidst congratulations, the council members were wished good luck and success for a fruitful year ahead.

elicitation of Board Class Toppers

The academic toppers from clas x and xii in the CBSE and AISSSE session 2015-16 were

felicitated by the school management. The parents of the awardees were invited to witness the

ceremony in their moment of glory. The overall toppers in the three streams i.e.PCM- Dilip Bagiyal ,

PCB- Monika Rana and Commerce-Kamini as well as those who scored 90 percent marks in individual

subjects were also awarded certificates, prizes and tracksuit and mementoes for their hard work and

efficiency. The teachers who delivered 100 percent result in their respective subjects in class XII were also

honored with certificates of merit by the honorableChairman, Brig J S Shekhawat, SC VSM and Principal,

Mrs.Bindu Sharma. Class XII – pointers students of class X were also felicitated on this occasion.

TM & Displayof best Holiday Homework

The school PTM was conducted 0n 30 Jul 2016. There was a good turnout of parents,

which exhibited their concern for their wards. The school had also put up for display the best

holiday homework and other projects created by the students during the summer vacation

Army Public School Birpur participated in IIMUN organized at Ecole Global International Girls

School which is a Youth Organization. 27 students of our school acted as diplomats and discussed

different international affairs and tried to come up with solutions to them. They not only simulate UN but

also The Indian Parliament, in order to make our youth aware about issues in our nation. This gave students a

clear view of holistic development, improved their public speaking skills, developed their critical thinking

abilities and also improved their knowledge about international affairs. All the students were given a certificate

for participation in the conference. Ms Kanika Dausani and Miss Asawari Walkade were given verbal

The student council members along with the prefectorial and advisors introduced themselves

to the entire school during the assembly for better camaraderie with the student, which was followed

by a photo session.

hramdhan Daan & DEAR Day on 4th

Aug 2016

Each class with the sections has an assigned flower bed in front of their classrooms to take care of. During „shramdaan‟, the students joyously took part in tending to the plants, pulling out weeds and watering them. This raised a concern in them towards environment and nature and emotionally bound them to it.

During DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) days, each member of the school delves into reading a book, newspaper, magazine and every stuff worth reading in order to promote good reading habits and make it enjoyable.

VISHKAR Quiz Competition Preliminary Round 11

On Aug 11, 2016 „Avishkar‟ Quiz Competition was held for class V and XII in which the students

participated enthusiastically. Each team comprised of 2 students. The quiz was aimed at bringing alive general

facts, surveys, life- skills, brain-teasers on value systems and a whole lot more that can excite, engage and

educate a young mind. „Avishkar‟ quiz was held to develop confidence and skills to explore, analyze and

synthesize in an effective manner for primary students, the quiz was hosted by Mrs. Seema Bijalwan and for

seniors by Mrs Neetu Kant Uniyal.

th August 2016

15th Aug 2016 was celebrated in APS Birpur with great zeal and enthusiasm. Teachers from nearby places came to witness the flag hoisting ceremony.Senior coordinator MrsArchanaChhettri,zealously hoisted the national tricolour followed by a speech through which the gathering was encouraged to value freedom given to us by our freedom fighters and martyrs.This was followed by a parade display of the senior NCC school wing. The parade was commanded by cadetSarthak of XI C.

nter House Hindi Debate Competition A Hindi Debate Competition was held in the school campus on 11th Aug 2016 under the supervision of Raina House. It was divided into two categories. The first category (class vi-viii) comprised 2 students of

each of the 4 houses and the topic was “Kya Mahila Arakshan unke utthan main kargar sabit hoga?‟.The second category was for the students of class IX – XII who debated on the topic ‘kya yuva pidhi ko rajniti mein bhaglena chahiye ya na hin?‟The participants put across their arguments strongly and tried to outdo each other. Finally, the best Speakers proved their mettle and came out winners. In category VI-VIII Manekshaw stood first and category IX-XII Raina House stood first.

ree Plantation drive by UrjaYog Tree Plantation was organised by Yog Urja on 13th Aug 2016 in APS Birpur. 500 trees (Amla,

Arjun, Kapoor, Harad, Guava etc) were provided by the organization alongwith their team of 11

sadhaks.Class XI-XII students took part in it enthusiastically along with Mrs Savita Tayal(PGT Bst) , Principal

Mrs Bindu Sharma& Head Clerk Mr Dev Chand Sharma.

oot Camp Boot camp on Design Thinking was organised in the school on 12th Aug 2016. The resource

persons for the same were Ms Preminda Langer &Ms Deepti Sawhney from Universal Learn Today, Indian Today Group. Highlights of the programme were:-

Implementing design thinking processes and tools to drive innovation.

Understanding the role of people in successful design thinking.

Transitioning through the phases of inspiration, ideation and implementation.

Using tools like visualizing, mapping and storytelling to create & present.

rmy Mela As part of Independence Day celebrations, the army conducted the “KNOW YOUR ARMY

MELA” based on the theme- Indian Army. The event was inaugurated by Maj Gen S.C.Mohanty. It was open to the general public to witness the military equipment, demonstration and screening of operational rooms. The event included display of a wide array of military equipments and weaponry. In addition to this, Army Tank Museum showcased various vintage tanks. Several stalls were established where information about joining the Indian Army through different entries were provided. Cultural shows comprising Army Band display. Nepali khukri dance and other entertainment programs were presented. 22. Army Mela 2016, Dehradun was a memorable occasion for APS Birpur as we got the privilege to perform in the opening ceremony. Our school students presented a melodious patriotic song and dance. Their love for motherland has been collectively expressed through their fantastic performance. The stalls put up by the school, displayed anaesthetic and scientific temperament through projects, models and art craft work which attracted a large audience. The event gave an opportunity to all to have a close look into the working of the armed forces.

nter House Folk Dance Competition The CCA committee conducted a„Folk Dance Inter House Competition‟ in which the students of

class VI to VIII participated. Under the supervision of Raina House, all the four Houses performed very well. The objective of the event was to inculcate the cultural values among the students through different dance forms from various Indian states. Raina House stood first in the competition.

VISKHAR Quiz Primary Aviskhar Quiz was conducted on 22 Aug 2016 on the theme “MOTION” in the school.

This was a fruitful learning experience for the students. Three teams participated for the same in different categories as under:-

nter- Class Decoration Competition

An Inter- class decoration competition was held to bring out the creative and aesthetic skills of the students and their respective class teachers through their display of charts and other decorations on the classroom walls. Each class put up an excellent show of paper.pen and colors that shaped their wondrous ideas.

ukkad Natika (Street Play) -22 Aug 2016

Inter House Street play Competition was organized on 22 Aug 2016 by Thimayya House. Mrs. Swati Gupta, w/o Col Vivek Gupta, Dept. Co 116 Inftr Brig, was the chief guest for the occasion. Mrs Mona Rai, Mrs Archana Chettri and Mrs. Swati Gupta formed the judgment panel. Through these street plays a platform was created to sensitize the students and make them ponder over evils such as smoking, drinking, environmental degradation and others .All four houses staged their plays on various themes.Raina House with its theme on environmental degradation emerged the winner.

pecial Parent Orientation Programmefor mothers of gorkhali community girls

APS Birpur aims at reaching the mothers who are one of the important stakeholder responsible for the growth and development of their wards. Under this an initiative has been taken by the school to reach the masses – community wise and hold sessions in local language for more involvement and better results. The main objective of this POP is to give advice to the parents of girls studying in our school. Theme of the POP is “Nurturing your girl child with moral values and ethics”. In this direction the session was held with mothers of gorkhali girls by Mrs Mona Rai. The following points were discussed and communicated to the mothers:-

Academic Performance of Gorkhali Girls (Reason of low performance and measures to uplift the same).

Inclination towards peer group rather than classroom studies (parents were advised to discuss with the child their close friends and suggested to keep a watchful eye on their friend circle)

Say „no to too much fashion‟ (advised to pay attention to the dress up within and outside school. Dress should be sober and not revealing. their bodies.

Check on social networking sites on a regular basis. Strangers on the social sites to be totally prohibited.

Mothers were advised to give the child a friendly atmosphere, where the child was free to express. Now the same will be replicated with other local community for maximum result.

anskrit Diwas Celebration –

Sanskrit Diwas celebration was marked by the chanting of Sanskrit shlokas signifying the essence of the language and its power even today. Students read out the works of some important Sanskrit writers and talked about the need to link up with the root language by the new generation.

23 girl cadets attended Cat C Camp at Anarwala from 2 Aug 2016 to 11Aug 2016. Total 16 schools participated in this camp. Our school stood fourth in the Over- all events Category. 2 boy cadets attended NCC Camp at Military Hospital from2 Aug 2016 to 11th Aug 2016.

On Aug 1, 2016 Inter Class Different Shapes with Clay/Best out of Waste Competition was held in Primary wing in order to make the children aware of uses of waste material and to give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future. Fabulous ideas were demonstrated by the children through their creativity.

On Aug 8, 2016 Inter House Rakhi Card Making / Rakhi Making Competition was held in Primary wing to celebrate the virtuous bond between a brother and sister. It was truly a delight to watch little hands of our artisans put together intricate material and fondly fiddle with mirrors ornaments etc. to deliver beautiful creative masterpieces.

Asawari Walkade (XI A) Story has been Published Online on Meritnation.Com Rajat Shukla(XII C) Won Zee Singing Stars Competition :-It is submitted that one of our student named Rajat Shukla of cl XII-C S/O Sub BK Shukla (Retd) from MES had participated in ZEE reality singing star competition. After going through different rounds held at various venues as Meerut, Mumbai etc, he came to top 5 positions and bagged first position in the final competition held at Chandigarh. He was awarded with a certificate and trophy for the same.

Mrs Anjula Baluni (TGT Hindi) along with Anusha Gupta XII A and Himanshu Bisht XII B participated in Inter School Debate Competition conducted by DAV Inter College Dehradun on 23rd Aug 2016. Total 12 reputed schools of Dehradun. The topic was “Prayavaran Ki Aniviyrata Dekhte Hue Adhunik Vikas Sambhav Hai‟ . Finally, APS Birpur came out victorious bagging the best Speaker (Against) and Best Speaker (For) clinching the overall winner trophy.

Shivang Chauhan of class X C also bagged the 1st prize in the Drawing and Painting Competition along with a cash prize of Rs 800/- which was also scheduled on 23rd Aug 2016 at DAV Inter College, Dehradun.

Our school team participated in two categories U-18 and U-15 in the tournament held at Scholars Home on 3rd – 8th Aug 2016.Our Junior team bagged runner up position and Vikas of class XII was adjudged the best Goalkeeper in Senior Category.

PS Football Tournament

It is submitted that CBSE Inter School Sahodaya Football Tournament was conducted at Scholar Home School from 03 Aug to 08 Aug 2016. Our both Junior and Senior team participated in the above event. Total 14 and 16 teams from various schools participated in Boys (junior) and (senior) respectively. Our junior team

was runners up whereas senior team got defeated in semifinal from Welham Boys with 1-0. Vikash Khanduri of this school was adjudged as best goal keeper. In this regard news paper cutting is att herewith.

It is submitted that a camp for selection for Thal Sena Camp was organized by NCC from 02 Aug to 11

Aug 2016 at MH complex. Out of 175 cadels, our two cadets named Avnish Prajapat of X-A and Mukul Kumar

of X-D selected for Pre Thal Sena Camp, which will be conducted at Roorkee. Avnish Prajapat and Mukul

Kumar got 1st and 3rd position respectively in firing. Avnish Prajat was awarded gold medal.Overall our school

JD/JW got 6th and 15th position respectively.
