Webelos Goal:Prepare a Cub Scout to be a Boy Scout

The Webelos Den is for 4th grade children to start to prepare to join a BSA Scout Troop while learning outdoors skills, leadership skills and participating in many adventures. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'scout-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous Boy Scout troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity.

Are Crossover Ceremonies Part of the Arrow of Light? While some packs may combine the celebration of these two achievements, Arrow of Light (AOL) and Crossover Ceremonies are different.

A Crossover Ceremony (sometimes called a Bridging Ceremony) is an event packs choose to host to recognize the Scouts achieving and earning their Den Rank and moving / crossing over from one Den to the other.

This is an important Pack event where each Den and family can see the achievements everyone has earned. The AOL recognition can also happen during a cross over ceremony for your WEBELOS SR. Den earning their Arrow of Light award and progressing from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA.

Often a Crossover Ceremony sends Cub Scouts to walk across a mini-bridge to symbolize their move to Boy Scouts (think of it as a Cub Scout “graduation” although we do not use that word in Scouting).

Arrow of Light, on the other hand, is a rank and award. It is a staple in the Cub Scout program and something many Scouts who move through Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts will achieve
