For children to be creative and innovative, it is necessary to develop their interest in extra-curricular activities. With academics, a child becomes a certificate holder, but his creative interest makes him a multi-faceted personality. There are many activities involved in the optimum personality development of a child, of which art and craft is an important part. From time-to-time, research has shown that students involved in artistic activities, comparatively develop a better understanding of other subjects as well. On the development of interest towards arts and a determined involvement and participation in the same, the minds of the students become sharp. Students, who are interested in art and craft, are able to find solutions to different problems in an effective manner and with the exchange of ideas, they are able to express themselves assertively. progressive and sustainable, it is necessary to make education experimental and activity based. Therefore, art and craft should be included in the curriculum. As a child begins to learn and understand various concepts, his curiosity to learn develops. He wants to know more about birds of different colours, mountains, sky, and space. From here itself, his imaginative ability begins to develop. This imagination makes him an explorer. Therefore, art and craft are the subjects which begin to sprout right from childhood, and the student wants to learn by doing. It paves the way for the all-round development of the student.

2. There is a lot of irregularity in students going to school in the rural areas, which is due to lack of enthusiasm and interest. Often it has been observed that due to their social and economic status, depression symptoms are found in students and there is a lack of self-confidence and concentration. Development of art and craft makes all the students realise that they too are talented. Creative work increases self-confidence and resolves issues of inferiority complex in the students.

bottles, shoe boxes, bangles, old newspapers, wet soil, cotton, matchstick, some vegetable cutters, cardboard, etc.

1. First of all, an activity is planned. It is also necessary to talk to the students about the work so that a curiosity can arise in them and they can accomplish the work successfully and energetically. Division of work is important so that every student is able to contribute actively.

2. In the implementation of art and craft, it is necessary to know what is to be made, the material for which should be collected accordingly. The teacher first demonstrates the method of building some items before the students and explains how they can be created in a simple way.

3. With this, the students develop self-confidence and self-reliance and begin to make different things.

tImeThis depends on the item to be made.

example 1. Artwork can be made by

various impressions like thumb, finger, potato, lady-finger, spray, etc.

2. Making various objects from match-boxes and old newspaper, like a pen stand, basket, book stand, and bags from old clothes.

3. A part of the class can be decorated as a theatre, where the child can recite poetry or perform any other creative activity according to his or her interest. In this way, expression in front of all the students in the classroom increases the students’ confidence. The students become more capable of expressing themselves.

conclusion1. The habit of learning by doing

develops and group participation also increases.

2. Students develop ethics and their interest in art increases. Students develop an inclination towards the education system and school.

BeNefItsphysical development: As a result of participating in the art and

craft activities by the students, the

balance of their sensory organs increases.

improved learning: There is an increase in the ability of the students to develop their memory power and language skills. Students develop regularity, understanding, the ability to make decisions, and the efficiency to solve problems.

development of social skills: Students develop awareness and values and their self-reliance also increases. This also develops the ability to work in a group.

Development of communication skills : It also develops the skills to express thoughts and creativity.

Students will be able to learn a variety of arts in the school and will feel happy to watch their parents being appreciated at the school level.

Through the parents, a sense of purpose can be added to the student’s life. Students can also be

provided life skills in collaboration with the community.

note: If the teacher is unable, for any reason, to bring the knowledge of art and craft to the student then: Any parent/guardian who practices a specific art can be invited to the school from time-to-time, their convenience, to train the students. This step will not only help the parents feel appreciated as an artist but will also provide indirect resources for the school to teach art

and craft.
