Join The Dayton Art Institute’s ArtTrek Team as we travel to the Toledo Museum of Art.

Juice and pastries will be provided on the bus ride. Arrive at the Museum with free time to explore the Museum’s permanent collection, and lunch will be on your own at the museum’s café, featuring a wide array of entrees and sandwiches.
Attend a demonstration in the Hot Shop to learn the process and techniques used in glass making.
A docent-led tour will guide us through the Glass Museum, which is one of the most comprehensive and historically significant collections dedicated to the medium in the world. Objects have been continuously acquired, studied, conserved, published and exhibited, and their collection’s creation and growth are as unique as the Museum itself.
The Museum’s art collection was formed first and foremost to provide aesthetic education for the people of the city and northwest Ohio. The historic glass objects, more specifically, were also to serve as models and inspiration for the designers and craftsmen employed in the flourishing local glass industry.
Opened in 2006, the postmodern Glass Pavilion is home to Toledo Museum of Art’s world-renowned glass collection, featuring more than 5,000 works of art from ancient to contemporary times.
The 74,000-square-foot building also includes galleries for special glass exhibitions, artist studios, demonstration areas, and spaces for education, visitor relaxation, and special events.
The Glass Pavilion is—in itself—a work of art. All exterior and nearly all interior walls consist of

Blarge panels of curved glass, resulting in a transparent structure that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. Designed by Tokyo-based SANAA, Ltd., the Glass Pavilion received Travel +Leisure’s 2007 Design Award for “Best Museum” and received other accolades for its innovative architecture. After our tour we will board the bus for Dinner at Real Seafood Co., one of Toldeo’s top-rated restaurants. The Real Seafood Co. is a contemporary seafood restaurant that offers premium fresh fish and seafood from the waters of New England to the Great Lakes and the Gulf of Mexico.
After dinner we will board the bus for home with an estimated time of arrival of 9:15 p.m..
