Ɐ Artbook 2012TRANSCRIPT
Have you ever heard a zen story of a woman who has just lost her only child? If you don’t, you’ll probably find it somewhere in the mid-dle of this book. “A” Is a place of twisted, mir-rored space & time, but it’s not a safe dream-like rabbit hole, it has nothing to do with the so-called “Carnival”, a concept originated by russian narratologist Mikhail Bakhtin. On the contrary, this world is filled with alienation, neurosis and dynamic motions that lead to nowhere, and it’s de-cay continues since it’s birth somewhere in the late 1990’s. But don’t be alarmed, It’s quite safe to visit it as a tour-ist these days, at least until the next big event comes on the scene: A-40, messenger of the ultimate piece of art.

“Garden of Delight“ by Ronnie Landfield is an acrylic on canvas piece behind this work. Other influences are: Gaspar Noe’s film “Irreversible“ and a photo of young John Cage & David Tudor by an unidentified author. Deconstructing “film noir“: pop-cultural aesthetics transform into a horrific and at the same time hysterically comical chronotope; white becomes yellow; postmodernism ruins neo-romantic avant-garde naïvety. Array! Surrection.

Thus the ritual should be performed permanently. end here.
