PREPARATIONI sprayed the surface with a coat of Americana Sealer/Finisher. Let dry.

Then I applied a coat of gesso

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSBase the circle in the center with Lamp Black

Base the outside area of the circle with Cadmium Yel-low + Snow White

Paint the trim on the edge with mix of Victorian Blue + Sapphire 1:1

Add the dots using Buttermilk

Vase• Base with Victorian Blue + Sapphire 1:1• Paint the rim with Victorian Blue + Sapphire +

White 1:1:1• Shade the left side with Ultra Deep Blue• Add refl ected light with Buttermilk

Ribbon• Base with Buttermilk • Shade fl oat with base color Lamp Black• Add dots with same color Lamp Black

Paint bottle• Base with Scarlet, shade with Alizarin Crimson

and add a highlight with Orange Flame• Add refl ected light on right side with Periwinkle• Paint the label with Buttermilk and outline with

Lamp Black • Add the lettering with Lamp Black

Pencils• Base with Primary Yellow, shade the right side

with Orange Flame• Paint the tips with Buttermilk and add Lamp

Black with a touch of White to the lead area• Add a few lines on top of the Buttermilk area

Knife• Base handle with Espresso, shade fl oat the right

side with Lamp Black• Highlight fl oat with Honey Brown add a refl ected

Add a very thin line of Periwinkle on the right side of each brush for a refl ected light

FERULESAll of these are based with Zinc. Shaded with Lamp Black and highlighted with Buttermilk. Lines around the ferule are Lamp Black.

BRISTLESBristles are based with Honey Brown on # 3, 6, 9 12 with Buttermilk over this color

Raw Umber is based on # 1,2,7,5 11 13 with Buttermilk over this color

Make sure to leave a little of the under color showing through and add some Lamp Black to the tops of # 1, 2, 5, 11
