Here are some fun ways to learn about how artists get inspired using the Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Value, Texture, Color, Space, and Form - these are the 7 basic building blocks of all art. Let’s see if you can find the following in our downtown streets. Lines: A line is a dot that went for a walk! Can you find 5 different kinds of lines while YOU walk around downtown? DRAW those lines, and where you found them, HERE: 1. Fuzzy 2. Squiggly 3. Outlines 4. Broken (dotted) 5. Thick Shapes: Shapes are defined by lines - a shape is a “closed” line that ends back up where it first started. Shapes can be geometric (like triangles, circles, squares), and organic (any shape that isn’t geometric is organic!). Which shape in downtown do YOU think is the most interesting? Describe it, or better yet, DRAW it here: Texture is the way that something actually feels to the touch, or that looks like it would feel if you could touch it. Look at the texture of so many building walls in downtown - use the crayon to capture a rubbing of YOUR favorite textures here: (lay your paper over the surface, and then rub your crayon on the page) Turn your completed scavenger hunt page in at the Rawlins DDA/Main Street Booth to be entered to win a prize.
