But that is also because of my mother’s dream and prayer, since I wasn’t even born, to be a musician. I remember in my childhood, my mother used to let me listen to classical music and gospel music, took me to piano courses, pushed me to practicing, and she supported all my musical interest. Now that she has passed away 6 years ago, my mom’s prayer of me traveling around the world playing music still lives in me, and makes me who I am today. Trained piano and violin in classical tradition, also learned drums, bass and guitar by myself, I am capable to embrace other styles of music more easily despite being confined at sonatas and partitas. First time of hearing jazz keyboardist Chick Corea, I instantly fell in love with jazz. Drawing influence from other great pianist such as Robert Glasper and Vijay Iyer, also imitating phrases used on other instruments like guitarist Frank Gambale and bassist Avishai Cohen, my taste in music especially in improvising and composing evolves over time. Aside of my current interest in fusion and neo-bop/avant-garde, listening to wide scope of music especially pop and rock has made my music richer.  As a musician, I use music, the universal language, not only to please myself, but to share what I have inside of me, to communicate my thinking and emotions, to make life more enjoyable, nevertheless to appreciate all of the goodness of the Lord. So whether it’s gospel music, jazz, rock or techno music, whether I play the piano, drums or sing, or even if I’m just the arranger or the producer, I hope my music may touch and bless the people hearing it.
