ART

CARTOONING (Artist Justin Stier) Explore methods of creating your own cartoon characters. You will learn to understand simple concepts from what makes a hero or a villain to what is funny or serious. At the end of the class you will have your own cast of characters for you to imagine your own story

DRAWING (Artist Jena Kodesh) Drawing with pen and ink creates artistic confidence as mark-making processes are explored. Stippling, cross hatching and sgraffito will be used to create personal marks

which distinguish differences among artists. This class focuses on mark-making to create value and define form. A reverse mono-print will also be created by mark-making into an inked surface.

IT’S ALL LEATHER: MEDIEVAL MASKS/MEDALLIONS/BRACELETS (Artist Patrick Riley) Enroll in this exciting class and learn to make leather masks of medieval times including dragons and unicorns. Hand-craft your own leather medallion with a medieval symbol on the front and create leather medieval bracelets. Finish your art works with metallic paints so that they look like real metal works of art from the Middle Ages.

JEWELRY AND ORNAMENT MAKING (Artist Audrey Schmitz) Here’s your chance to create original pendants, buttons and ornaments using glass, clay, wood, metal, paper, wire and more. Learn about glass fusing, ceramic glaze and firing techniques and how to create custom cords for your wearable art!

KILT MAKING (Artist Jean Hill) Students will learn how to sew and complete their own kilt, a garment dating from 16th century Scotland. The process includes cutting, pinning and hand-sewing solid color or plaid cloth to make a finished garment.

LEATHER SHIELD MAKING/ DRAGON AND UNICORN SCULPTURE (Artist Patrick Riley) Come to this adventure class and make a leather shield of the times of the Knights and Warrior Princesses. Shape and paint the shield with vibrant acrylic colors. Attach a leather handle to the shield so that you can carry it on your arm. Create a small dragon sculpture or unicorn with paper mâché to go with your shield.

NATIVE CULTURE AND ART (Artist Ted Moore) In this new class, you will use native designs while exploring a variety of techniques to create a painting and an Osage dance choker. You will learn some words in the Osage language with each art activity and will be able to introduce yourself in Osage.

OIL PAINTING (Artist Jena Kodesh) By combining oil paint, charcoal drawing and a secret solution, you will explore natural form in creating still-life and landscape paintings. Working in transparent layers, this painting process allows you to produce vibrant colors and striking painted surfaces.

PAINTING WITH WATERCOLOR & GOUACHE (Artist Jena Kodesh) Pigment dances with water as students create in color! Many experimental painting processes are explored as a means of expression. Texture is used to generate organic form.

COMPUTER AND VIDEO

VIDEO PRODUCTION/COMPUTER GRAPHICS 101 (Artist Brad Matson) This class combines the Arts Adventurers’ two loves of Video Production and Computer Graphics. From a group concept, you will build a visual storyline. You will learn how to operate a video camera and editing software and create your own computer graphics to

go with the visual story. Each class will create titles and credits and will also utilize green screen techniques in finishing the project. Make an awesome video with your group to premiere at the Friday Showcase.
