Sixth Form Ethos Our Mission

Arusha Meru’s Sixth Form wants all our A Level students to reach their full academic potential. It is a wonderful place to study and learn values that might be needed outside of school setting. The school provide a high level of individual support and guidance especially subject choices and university placements. We believe that it is our moral duty to help pupils achieve their highest possible grade during the last two years of their compulsory study before moving into higher education.

Our Vision

The school’s vision for our Sixth Form pupils is simple: we aim to develop a ‘can do attitude’ in our students and be able to integrate in the mainstream society and become a success in whatever they do. We want our pupils to be independent, critical with their thought, and has the ability to be constructive and contribute to the local, national and international society through the school’s carefully planned curriculum.

Key Stage 5 Curriculum (Years 12 and 13) Arusha Meru offers the Cambridge International Examinations for A Level students. We offer a variety of subjects that suits the different academic needs of our students.

We offer a choice of 18 subjects. This means that as a school, our subjects choices are broad, international, and can be used for admission in any parts of the world.

In addition to their academic subjects, our Sixth Form students participate in a range of other subjects and activities. These subjects include a non-exam-based Global Perspectives, Music, and Sports. Excellent sports programme enable our students participate in Basketball, Football, Netball, Rugby, and Swimming.

What to study?

At Arusha Meru, we offer a wide-range of ALevel choices in all our subjects. This includes:

• Accounting • Biology• Business • Chemistry• Economics • French

Admission Criteria Admissions to Arusha Meru’s Sixth Form arewelcomed from any applicants for whom thereis an appropriate subject.

The school always prioritises our current Year11 students and we also accept external admission from students wishing to transfer to Arusha Meru.

There is no set deadline for the receipt of applications. We do encourage potential students to apply as soon as their IGCSE or Form 4 result comes out.

To admitted into the Sixth Form programme, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

• At least 5 A*-C in IGCSE or Division 2 from NECTA;• English subject should be C-grade and above;• If taking Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and/or

Physics, a C-grade from an Extended syllabus or Division 2 from NECTA is a must.

Other Information • Sixth Form students do not wear uniforms. However, students are expected to dress appropriately. A copy of the dress code

is issued upon enrolment.• Our sixth form students have access to 4-g internet via the school’s ICT Lab.• The Student Council fundraised for the Sixth Form’s Common Room.• University Fair is hosted by the school during Term 1 and the school is also invited to attend University Fair around Arusha.• Students are supported for their University application, both in Tanzania and overseas.
