Asphalt Content Furnace:
The Asphalt Furnace has an internal electronic
balance automatically monitoring the sample weight
throughout the ignition process, saving valuable
technician time and increasing productivity in the lab.
Simply enter the sample weight and calibration factor
for your particular mix design, place the sample in the
furnace chamber and press "start." When the test cycle
is complete, the system automatically ends the test and prints the results. A periodic "beep" alerts
the technician that the test has ended. Pressing "stop" unlocks the chamber door and the sample
can be removed and allowed to cool for gradation analysis.
Los Angeles Abrasion Machines:
The L. A. Abrasion Machine is used as a quality
control tool for aggregates, including crushed rock, gravel and
slag. The testing method determines the degradation when
subjected to abrasion, attrition, and impact and grinding. The
sample is placed in the drum along with a hardened steel
abrasive charge. After rotating the drum a specific number of
times, samples are removed and examined for wear.

Penetration tester:Penetration tester The instrument is suitable to
determine the penetration of highway bitumen, modified
asphalt, as well as liquid petroleum asphalt or residue of
emulsified asphalt after evaporation.
.The penetration of bituminous materials is expressed
as the distance that a 100 g0.05 g standard needle
vertically penetrates into the sample without measurable
fraction in 5 s at a constant temperature bath of 250.1
. It is used for evaluating the consistency of asphalt.
The larger the penetration is; the thinner and softer the asphalt is.
The instrument can also be used for inspecting industry materials such as solid granule,
powder, colloid, as well as food materials such as cream, glycine, etc. It has been widely used in
the field of food industry, highway and traffic departments and other departments.
Automatic Proctor-CBR compactor:
Provides a fully automatic uniform compaction of
specified effort, thus ensuring repeatable test results and
eliminating any operator fatigue during the tests. It
consists essentially in a robust steel frame housing the
motor speed reducer and lifting mechanism which assure
uniformity of drop height at all specimen levels. The
rammer pick- up has a cam system for accurate height
release and is made of highly resistant material for
trouble free long life. Compaction cycles conforming to the mentioned Standards, can be set on
the digital control panel.

Buoyancy balance:
Digital high capacity scale offers 16000 gram
weighing capacity with 0.1 gram readability for highly

Road skid resistance tester :
The apparatus is suitable for both site and

For measuring pavement (road asphalt) surface

tests.
Water bath :
Provides water at the required temperature
of 25 0,1C.The unit consists of a stainless steel
water bath 10 litres capacity with wool insulation,

pump with connections, cooling coil device, current water operated, to maintain a constant

immersed into the water bath, and placed on the penetrometer on

The Portable Sieve Shaker will hold 8 Full Height 8"
sieves, pan and cover. Motor driven in two models, one for 110

The California Bearing Ratio (CBR) :
CBR test is a simple strength test that compares the
bearing capacity of a material with that of a well-graded crushed
stone (thus, a high quality crushed stone material should have a
CBR at 100%). It is primarily intended for, but not limited to,
evaluating the strength of cohesive materials having maximum
particle sizes less than 19 mm (0.75 in.) (AASHTO, 2000). It
was developed by the California Division of Highways around
1930 and was subsequently adopted by numerous states,
counties, U.S. federal agencies and internationally. As a result,
most agency and commercial geotechnical laboratories in the
U.S. are equipped to perform CBR tests.
Material uses in asphalt testing:
1. Asphalt:The black cementing agent known as asphalt has been used for road construction for
centuries.Asphalt is called a bituminous material because it contains bitumen, a hydrocarbon
material soluble in carbon disulfide. The tar obtained from the destructive distillation of soft

coal also contains bitumen. Both petroleum asphalt and coal tar are referred to as bituminous
materials.
