They will be embarrassed many times for murdering your last name and will hope that you won't be offended. As the new pastor and principal look over the congregation, they will see as many needs as there are people. There will be people of every age and walk of life, people who are sick or troubled, the energetic, the faithful, even the apathetic. They may wonder if they have the gifts to tackle all the responsibilities that the Lord has placed upon them. Some people will expect them to immediately engineer dramatic growth in the church and school, even though they're not the ones who know your unchurched friends and neighbors. They don't know, as you do, who might be looking for a better school for their children. In addition to these and many other pressures, the new called workers must do their daily work, write sermons and lesson plans, find homes and hospitals that are neatly tucked away in strange places. Here are some suggestions as to how you can help the new called workers and their families adjust more quickly: 1) pray for them daily 2) encourage them at every opportunity 3) communicate to them that you want them to be themselves, that they don't have to prove anything 4) volunteer to help in any way you can. Our new called workers and their families may have made some significant sacrifices in order to come and serve us. Our expressions of love to them should be sincere, with deep appreciation to the Lord who has called them to minister among us. Their job is to love us. They'll do it. Our job is to love them. THE TRINITY

HERALD

SO YOU'RE GETTING A NEW

PASTOR AND PRINCIPAL

What's it like to be a new called worker in a new town? What's it like to see the neighbors looking out of their windows at you every time you go outside, inspecting your every move? The new called workers and their families automatically have a problem with their new neighbors. The neighbors are asking themselves, "Can I be myself when I'm around these people? Unlike the average person, the new minister or principal may have to prove that he's really human before he's treated as a human.

The new called workers and their families will have to learn their way around the new town. Why are there two Townline Roads? Why is the Island Cafe on the island but the Island Estates are not? What is the story behind the name Lake Kawaguesaga? Some of these questions don't even have answers, but the new called workers and their families won't know that. In an effort to be good stewards, the new called workers will try to shop for bargains. But just when they feel they have found a bargain, someone may inform them of a store at which they could have saved more! Then there's the problem of finding a good dentist and family doctor. Where should they start?

The new called workers will not know the people of our congregation. They won't know your name the first time you meet and they may not remember it the second or third time They won't know if you're a lifelong member or if you're visiting for the first time. They won't know that you are related to so-and-so by marriage or that your grandson once studied for work in the church. They will

be embarrassed many times for murdering your last name and will hope that you won't be offended.

TRINITY LUTHERAN SCHOOL NEWS

Trinity Lutheran School is taking applications for preschool and grades K-8 for the 2017-2018 school year. Information and registration can be found at www.trinityminocqua.org or in the school office.

Trinity has just entered its last quarter of the school year. The final day of school will be Thursday, May 25. We will mark the end of the school year with a closing service and graduation at 4:00 pm and a school picnic to follow. We thank God for 41 years of blessings on Trinity Lutheran School.

As announced to the church in February, Miss Carol Schultz will be retiring and Principal Jeff Schultz will be stepping down as Principal and upper grades teacher, both effective June 30, 2017. Both have faithfully served us at Trinity, Miss Schultz for 40 years and Mr. Schultz for the last 7. Please pay attention to future announcements on ways that we will all be able to show our thanks and appreciation for their service. Please also keep them in their prayers as they begin new chapters in their respective lives!

Sunday Bible Class: Beginning April 2, our class will be starting a new topic called "New Testament Gospel Words." In this series, we'll be discussing the difference between mercy and grace, the difference between regeneration and enlightenment. We'll study what justification, sanctification, and predestination are all about. We hope you will join us. May God lead us to appreciate and always to gain a greater understanding of his Holy Word!

Thursday Lunch Break Bible Class: On Thursday, April 20, we will resume class at 12:15 pm to do a verse by verse study of Paul’s letter to the Philippians. In this God-inspired personal letter we find how God’s grace has real results in the life of a Christian and of a congregation and the effect God’s grace also had on Paul as a joyful servant of Christ, an optimistic prisoner, a humble cross bearer, tactful pastor and grateful friend. May the Holy Spirit, through this study, guide those in attendance to a stronger faith and joy in Christ.

Children’s Sunday School: Children in preschool through fourth grade will continue to meet for their Bible history instruction as scheduled most Sundays from 10:30-11:30 am. Children meet for class in the school classrooms.

Bible History and Confirmation Instruction: Public school students in grades 5-8 continue to meet for Bible history and confirmation class instruction through May 10. Students in grades 5-8 who attend Trinity Lutheran School have confirmation instruction from 8:30-9:30 am every Monday and Thursday during the school year.

CONFIRMATION: This year we have six students being confirmed. Confirmation Sunday will be May 14. Prior to that, the students will take part in a public examination on Friday, May 12 at 5:00 pm. We pray that God will bless these young men and women as they become communicant members of Trinity.

TOURS

We’ve been asked to forward this information to you:

On September 18, 2017 retired pastor James Humann invites you to join him and fellow WELS members on a twelve day tour to Germany in observance of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation. Highlights include the famous Luther sites of Wittenberg, Eisleben, Leipzig, Erfurt, Eisenach and the Wartburg Castle. Also included are the cities of Prague in the Czech Republic, Salzburg and Vienna in Austria. This September tour has only a limited number of places still available. For a colorful brochure that contains the daily itinerary, price and General Conditions, e-mail Pastor James Humann at [email protected]. If you'd prefer a hard copy, please include your name and mailing address.

You are invited to join a 10 day tour to the Holy Land on March 13-22, 2018. Key sites of both Old and New Testaments will be visited. For a Christian, there is no place like walking where Jesus walked. The Bible will "come alive.” Discounts are available for early enrollments. Retired pastor Eugene Kock, who has hosted many previous tours there, can be contacted at [email protected] for more information.

Wisconsin Lutheran College and Asia Lutheran Seminary are hosting a study tour of Malta, Sicily, and Italy January 3-13, 2018. This trip, By Sea & By Land, will follow Paul’s journey as he was taken to Rome. For more information you may contact Dr. Glen Thompson, [email protected] or Dr. Joel Pless, [email protected]. You may also contact Pam in the church office to have a brochure forwarded to you.

SOCCER CAMP—VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Trinity will be holding its 12th annual Soccer Camp June 19-23. Soccer Camp is for children ages 5-14. Camp will once again be held at the AV-W soccer fields from 1:00-4:00 pm each day. Registration forms are now available in the school office as well as on our website, www.trinityminocqua.org.

In preparation for camp we will be needing housing for a couple of our coaches. We will also be needing people willing to volunteer and make a breakfast/brunch or dinner to feed the coaches. The sign up for preparing a meal will be available later in May but if you are willing to house a couple coaches, please contact Mr. Jeff Schultz.
