Vision Wall

What’s your vision for Asbury? There have been sheets up at both ends of the church to get everyone’s input. Here are some of the visions:

• More kids in Sunday School • Youth Group • Mission trip out of state • Youth band and choir • Healing • Optimism • Help elders get to church • Encourage each other • Restore faith and trust in leadership • Open-mindedness to try new things • Grow the Children’s Ministry • Continue to show the love of God

Feel free to add your vision to the wall.

John Wesley’s New Year Covenant Prayer I am no longer my own, but thine.

Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.

Put me to doing, put me to suffering.

Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee,

exalted for thee or brought low for thee.

Let me be full, let me be empty.

Let me have all things, let me have nothing.

I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.

And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

thou art mine, and I am thine.

So be it.

And the covenant which I have made on earth,

let it be ratified in heaven.

Amen.

New Year, New Books

Every January, members of United Methodist Women begin reading the new books on the UMW Reading Program. Each chosen book will stay on the reading program list for five years. This year's books look at the history between the United Methodist Church, the United States and Native People; Alzheimer's Disease and the importance of wellness in body and spirit. They continue to look at the quadrennial focuses of economic injustice, the environment and explore intellectual and spiritual leadership. As always, they encourage personal journeys and spiritual growth. All the books currently on the UMW Reading List are on the wooden cart in Asbury's library. The books on this cart are not limited to members of the UMW; anyone may read them.

The Asbury Bells of Praise performed at a brunch and cookie exchange at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church on December 9.

Dru Ann Kuntz again organized the Christmas Eve pie deliveries. Almost 160 pies were delivered to police stations, fire stations, hospitals, and other places where people had to work on Christmas Eve. Thanks to all the labelers and deliverers. This is the third year Asbury has done this. The workers receiving pies were very appreciative.

Just before Christmas, Harold Ellis gave away dolls that belonged to his late wife, Genevieve. He wanted to make sure they all got a good home. Thanks Harold!
