DC LOAD BANKS

GENERAL FEATURES

ASCO offers both portable and permanent models to support load testing of virtually any DC application. ASCO DC Load Banks are designed for continuous duty with no cool down period required after use. ASCO also offers the widest range of ratings for standard and custom engineered DC testing applications.

Standard DC voltages are 12, 26, 28, 48, 52, 120, 130, 160, 270, 400 VDC with custom designed DC loads up to 1000 VDC.

ASCO Portable DC Load Banks designed for indoor operation and are suitable for testing a variety of DC sources including (but not limited to) the following:

• DC generating systems• 28VDC Ground Power Units• Power Inverters• Battery Capacity Testing• Telecom Verification

Portable load banks feature either two fixed and two lockable swivel casters or a wheeled transport case (suitcase style units). This ease of mobility allows our units to be moved easily indoors in a lab environment or easily transported from one test site to another.

ASCO Permanent DC Load Banks are designed for continuous outdoor operation and are suitable for testing high capacity DC sources. Typical applications include:

• DC Power Supplies• Discharge Testing• Inverters• Data Center Acceptance Testing • Wind/Solar Commissioning

All permanent DC load banks are equipped with forklift pockets for ease of installation. Options for permanent load banks include digital volt and amps monitoring, pilot relays, digital control platform, and factory mounted trailer units.

Custom voltages and ampacities are also available upon request.

TYPICAL CONTROL PLATFORMS

Local Manual Control: is the most common type of control for portable style DC load banks. Control panel features power on/off selection, master load on/off, individual load step switches and operation indicators.

Rated Voltage: ASCO DC Load Banks can be designed to virtually any DC voltage (please contact us with your exact specifications and requirements).

Enclosure & Portability: ASCO enclosures are heavy-duty and made from aluminized steel with polyester powder coat paint. Air inlet and outlet openings are safe guarded by protective screen-ing. Additional enclosure finish options such as custom paint and stainless steel are also available.

Controls: Portable: DC Load Banks feature integral opera-tor control panel with industrial toggle switches for Power ON/OFF, Master Load and Individual Load Step Control.

Permanent: Outdoor DC Load Banks feature remote control panel housed in a wall mount enclosure. Standard control is via manual toggle switches. Options for digital monitoring and remote digital control are available.

Resistors: ASCO Power Technologies Helidyne resistive element is the industry standard for high watt density, corrosion resistant chromium alloy elements.

Rating: Continuous duty. No cool down period required after use.

Control Power: 120V, single phase, 60 Hz from an external power source.

Cooling: Resistive elements are air-cooled by integrally mounted high volume fan motors. Power is derived from an external AC source.

Load Connections: Direct connect input bus bars or quick disconnect type connectors are available.

Contactors: Heavy-duty, fully rated DC contac-tors for continuous operation and long life.

Safety Features: Over-temperature protection standard on all models.
