• To reduce the amount of smoking

• To produce health awareness

Priorities of ASH

• Protect foster children from secondhand smoke

• Advertise the toxic chemicals found in tobacco smoke

• Urge the US to ratify the FCTC

Background of ASH

• Non-profit tax-exempt legal action anti-smoking organization devoted to the problems of smoking for over 40 years

How ASH is Active in the Political Process

• Focus on lawsuits• Class actions against

the tobacco industry• Reason: the potential

to win hundreds of billions of dollars

Activity in the Political Process

• The ASH organization is trying to get the FCTC ratified by the government
