Parents'Role We are a community club and depend on the help of volunteers! We need your involvement!

Parents can help by:

• Adopting coaching roles; • Managing teams; • Assisting at some training nights; • Assisting at Club Nights and Club Events; • Staffing canteen and BBQ at some Home Ground venues; • Setting up and packing up pitches on game day.

For information regarding the intricacies of such roles see the following pages. Any help is greatly appreciated! It is the Parent or Guardian’s responsibility to notify the club, coach or team manager of any health issue, which may affect their child’s ability to participate in any club events.

For further expectations, a parents’ code of conduct is available at http://www.ashburtonsoccer.com.au

GradedSquads: Under8to12 Under13to18Ashburton United is a Community Football Club that strives to provide opportunities for children of all ages and abilities. The Club seeks to field teams at the highest level at each age group. The squads will compete in Kanga (competitive), Wallaby (emerging-competitive) and Joey (social) leagues for ages U08 – U12; and A, B, C, D & E Leagues for ages U13 – U18.

SkillsAssessment&Pre-seasonTraining:

Players wishing to play in a competitive squad with Staff Coach – i.e. Kangas or Wallabies (U09 – U12)/A or B league (U13 - U16), must attend grading sessions commencing on the 5th February. All other teams including U07 & U08 will commence preseason training in March. A timetable with locations for February grading and March preseason will be placed on club website and distributed via Teamstuff.

Page 3 Coaches AldiMiniroosKickOffInstructors:

The success of the Small Sided Football program for U04 – U06 is dependent on the involvement of parents as instructors and the club encourages parents to participate in this program. Training is available for all parents wishing to be involved. FFA policy stipulates that all instructors must successfully complete a Working With Children Check. Application forms are available online, free of charge from http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/home/ A Grassroots Certificate Course is recommended for all instructors and details for this course will be advised.

StaffCoachesStaff Coached Squads for Saturday & Sunday teams will have a qualified coach appointed to manage the development of the squad and its players throughout the season. These teams will train twice a week. Experience and qualifications may vary for coaches. All coaches are required to have qualifications according to the age group, or they need to be willing to obtain them. AUSC technical coordinators will ensure the development of our coaches and standards during season Players that are selected to play in a Staff Coached Graded Squad will be liable to pay a Coaching Levy.

ParentalCoachesSome squads will be coached by parental volunteers. Such coaches will be encouraged to attend relevant coaching courses, for which they will be reimbursed. If a parent provides satisfactory coaching through the season by completing coaching accreditations and taking responsibility for weeknight practices and matches, she/he will be offered a full rebate of one child’s registration fees at the end of the season. All coaches must complete a Working with Children Check – forms are available online free of charge.

If a team has no parental coach, the club will seek to provide a Staff Coach but provides no guarantee that a coach will be found. In some cases the club will determine that a Staff Coach will be provided if it believes it is in the best interest of the team. Where a staff coach is engaged, a Coaching Levy will apply.

CoachingLevyThe Coaching Levy is intended to cover the costs associated with the appointment of a non-parental coach. Once players have been selected to these squads an invoice will be sent via email. Until the Coaching Levy has been paid, players will not be approved for registration with the FFV and therefore will be ineligible to play.

CoachingCoursesFor information about FFV coaching courses, refer to the FFV website www.footballfedvic.com.au.

AppointmentofCoachesCoaches are appointed annually by the Board of Directors subject to:

• being of suitable character; • having an appropriate manner with our players; • having completed the relevant FFA/FFV training course and certifications; • having demonstrated an understanding of the AUSC Philosophy and

Curriculum; • having successfully completed a Working with Children Check and • having registered on MyFootballClub.
