DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAMDoctor of Education (Ed.D.)The Ed.D. Program offers students an individualized approach withflexible curriculum choices and instructional delivery options. Eachstudent gains expertise in his or her chosen concentration andsupplements that study area with an additional concentration, aminor in another area, or with electives from multiple disciplines.
All students will be required to earn a minimum of 66 credits asoutlined in the program components; however, students maychoose to select multiple concentrations or electives of interest tocomplement their degrees.
Students may elect to take their core seminars online or at one ofour on-site program locations. All concentration and electivecourses are delivered completely online.

Core Seminars [18 credits]All students are required to successfully complete the threecore seminars. These foundation seminars are designed toenhance competence in these areas, which are prominent in anychosen discipline.
Core seminars include• Leadership• Methods of Inquiry• Trends and Issues
Research Elective [3 credits]Each Student is required to elect one supplemental research coursein addition to the research seminar. Throughout the researchelective, students gain specific knowledge in the applied researchmethod selected for their dissertations.
Research electives include• Advanced Program Evaluation• Advanced Statistical methods• Measurement, Testing, and Assessment• Mixed Methods• Program Evaluation• Psycho-Educational Assessment• Qualitative Research• Research Design and Methods• Single Subject Research• Statistical Methods• Survey Research
Concentrations [18-24 credits]The concentration component of the Doctor of Education allowsstudents to maximize their knowledge and skill set in their currentand/or emerging fields. Concentrations require a minimum of18credits in the area of study, but may require up to 24 credits.Concentration courses must be taken online.

Electives/Minors [9-24 credits]Through the electives component, students can individualize theirdoctoral degrees. Depending on the number of credits required intheir main concentration, students must complete the minimum 66-credit requirement using electives. These electives may also beapplied toward a second concentration [18-24 credits] or a minor[15 credits]. Elective courses must be taken online.

Applied Dissertation [12 credits]The applied dissertation is a detailed, accurate, and cohesiveaccount of a scholarly investigation designed to answer a researchquestion directed toward the improvement of practice in educationand human services. Research is distinguished by a theory-to-practice model encompassing a diversity of disciplines. Eachstudent is assigned a faculty committee to facilitate and supervisethe process.
