AOCR 2020 Organising Chairman Message AOCR 2020 Organising andScientific Committee

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I am delighted to welcome you to the 18th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR) 2020 which will be held from 23rd July to 26th July 2020 in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia.

Malaysia is proud to host this biennial event for the 18th Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology. The objective is to

promote scientific collaborations, professional rapport, exchanges of knowledge and friendship amongst the Asian Oceanian region. The theme for this meeting is “From Pixel to Clarity”. Our primary aim is to cover the basics to the advances in digital imaging. The amalgamation of digital technology with clinical prowess provides clarity in our daily practice and leads to improvement in health practices and patient care. We will achieve our objectives via Master Class teachings, Plenary Sessions and Scientific Sessions on the various topics important to this region.

As part of our commitment towards youth participation we have provided 100 YES Youth Education Scholarship providing Free Registration and accommodations to attend the conference. Accepted Top 500 abstracts would also be published in the Korean Journal of Radiology (KJR).

The venue is in the nexus of Kuala Lumpur, a city of vibrance, with juxtaposition of the old and new and a city with myriad of ASEAN cultures. I believe you will learn from this conference and also immerse yourself in a truly ASEAN experience.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the organising committee, invited faculty and sponsors for the kind support and contributions towards the Congress.

Once again I extend my warm welcome to all participants. Please enjoy all that Kuala Lumpur has to offer. I believe you will leave with beautiful memories to take home, clarity in your knowledge and friendship in your heart.

CoR Council 2018 - 2020President Of CoR Welcome Message

The biannual conference, the 18th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR) 2020 will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 23rd to 26th July 2020. The annual scientific meeting of the College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia - Malaysian Congress of Radiology (MCOR) 2020 will also be incorporated into this event. A comprehensive 4-day scientific programme covering the various subspecialities of Clinical Radiology

will be delivered via Master Classes, plenary sessions and lectures from internationally renowned speakers from the Asian Oceanian region and also the rest of the world. This will be a great time for radiologists and other radiology professionals from all over the world to meet, learn and share their experiences. Kuala Lumpur, the modern capital city and the largest city in Malaysia is a garden city of lights with many things to see and do. Besides being the national financial center, it is also a city with an eclectic mix of the old and new, diverse cultures and multiple cuisines. It is therefore hardly surprising that this city regularly makes its appearance in many world top 10 travel destinations lists. Do take time to enjoy what Kuala Lumpur and its nearby places have to offer. On behalf of the College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine (CoR) of Malaysia and also the organising committee, I would like to welcome everyone to this meeting.

AOSR President’s Message

About AOSR

AOSR Executive Council

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to welcome you to the 18th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR) 2020 Scientific Meeting that will be held in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the state of the art Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 23rd -26th July 2020.

The theme of the congress is “From Pixel to Clarity” and we have amongst

us eminent speakers, leaders and representatives from various organizations not only from the Asia Oceanian region but also from around the world.

The First Asian-Oceania Congress was held in Melbourne in 1971 and the Congress has grown over the decades to be a prime scientific meeting in this region.

The Organising Committee has left no stone unturned to ensure that the scientific program is of the highest standard, covering topics from practical applications to cutting edge research and innovations. I am confident that this conference will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas and views on safe and sound practice of radiology in the 21st century and challenge all delegates, in particular the heads of institutions and other leaders in the profession to take home some key messages and implement them at their respective work place.

This is also a great opportunity to network and establish professional contacts and consider setting up international projects and research. In an increasingly globalised world, there is a growing need to pool resources and work collaboratively.

I hope you will not only make the most of the conference but also have some time to explore the city and its culinary experiences.

KUALA LUMPURExperience

Petronas Twin TowersThe 452 metres tall Petronas Twin Towers is the tallest building in Malaysia, and was once the tallest building in the world.

At the base of the Petronas Twin Towers is Suria KLCC, which is a shopping mall that is very popular among tourists. Tourists can also take a stroll along the beautiful landscaped KLCC Park, which is located at the side of the twin towers, where it features a jogging track, walking paths, water fountain and a wading pool for children.

Besides the mall and the park, there are also other attractions such as the Aquaria KLCC, Petronas Art Gallery and Petrosains Science Center inside the Petronas Twin Towers.

Batu CavesBatu Caves is an iconic and most frequented tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur.

It is a limestone hill comprising 3 major caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Outside Batu Caves stands the world’s tallest golden statue of Lord Murugan, a Hindu Deity, at 42.7 metres tall.

The attraction of Batu Caves includes the steep 272 steps climb up to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre. Along your way up, you will see lots of monkeys frolic around the caves.

Malaysian FoodFood can be considered as the national obsession. It is not uncommon to be greeted by the phrase “Sudah makan?” which means “Have you eaten?”. Malaysian food is heavily influenced by Thai, Chinese, Indonesian and Indian cuisine. As elsewhere in Asia, rice is an essential staple. Some of the popular Malaysian food are Nasi Lemak, Char Kuey Teow, Roti Canai and Curry laksa. Our local delicacies will definitely tantalise your tastebuds.

National MuseumThe National Museum of Malaysia is a beautiful building characterized by traditional Malay Minangkabau-style architecture which stands in the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur. It displays an excellent introduction to Malaysia’s history, economy, geography, arts, crafts and culture.

Kuala Lumpur fondly known as KL, is a modern and bustling city and is one of the region’s most properous capitals. KL consists of a melting pot of cultures infused together and boasts a variety of attractions such as interesting heritage sites, shopping, entertainment, nature and adventure.
