ASIAN STUDIES (minor) WHAT YOU’LL LEARN • Become a “global citizen” through the cross-cultural and interdisciplinary examination of Asian religion, history, art, government, customs and more. • Focus your Asian Studies on a specific discipline or a country, such as China, Korea, Japan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tibet or Bhutan. • Take classes like “Identity and Society in Asia,” “Shamans and Superstition” and “North Korean History.” STUDY ABROAD Students have traveled to Bhutan on a pilgrimage where they visited sacred temples, monasteries and shrines, examined landscapes and architecture and more. Students also have an opportunity to examine “Tradition and Change” in China, “Cultural and Genetic Identity” in Japan and “Identity, Expression and Representation” in India. How can I use an Asian Studies minor? Students can pair this minor with another discipline and/or graduate studies to become: • a foreign service officer • a cultural affairs specialist • a customs officer • a diplomat • a human rights officer • an immigration services officer • an international relations officer • a cultural artifact specialist • a cultural researcher • an international student advisor • a cultural resource manager • an import specialist • a global marketing manager • a cultural center coordinator (over)
