Coaching For Superior Results
![Page 22: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Wouldn’t it be great if you could just TELL people what to do?
![Page 23: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
You can TRY, but it doesn’t really work.
![Page 24: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
A VERY important point…
People HATE to be told what to do.
Get them to tell you… what you want them to hear!
![Page 25: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
You need to create a HIGH level of INFLUENCE
Without resorting to using your POWER

![Page 31: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
Characteristics of an Effective Coach
• Positive• Supportive• Goal Oriented• Observant
Let’s take a look at each in more detail…
![Page 32: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
Positive
• You job is NOT to find fault, correct mistakes, assess blame and “put people in their place.”
• Your function is to achieve productivity goals by COACHING your people to peak performance.
![Page 33: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
Supportive
• You job as a coach is to get your employees what they need to achieve their productivity goals, including resources, training, tools, time, answers to questions and the removal of any barriers that stand in the way of them delivering on their goals.
![Page 34: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
Goal Oriented
• A key to successful coaching is in setting specific, measurable, agreed upon and time bound goals with unambiguous accountability.
• The coach MUST be superb at setting extremely clear expectations of requirements, outcomes and responsibilities.
• Here is why…
![Page 35: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
•It is hard to argue about real, verifiable, observable, and measurable facts.•It is easy to get into a nasty argument about opinions and feelings.
STICK TO THE FACTS
![Page 36: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)
Observant = EQ
• Being observant means more than just keeping your eyes and ears open.
• You need to be aware of what isn’t being said… of body language and facial expressions… of discomfort and unease.
• If you are paying close attention and being highly observant you won’t have to wait for someone to tell you about a problem.
![Page 37: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/37.jpg)
There is a BIG difference:
Boss / Manager• Talks a lot• Tells• Presumes• Pressures• Seeks control• Orders• Works on• Assigns blame• Keeps distant
Coach• Listens• Asks• Explores• Motivates• Seeks commitment• Challenges• Works with• Takes responsibility• Makes contact
![Page 38: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/38.jpg)
Not every player needs the same type of coach…
![Page 39: ASMC creating a culture of accountability 05.03.11](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022110117/5539adad4a7959c1688b49a1/html5/thumbnails/39.jpg)
