10:30 A.M. Worship

WELCOME VISITORS

We welcome you as a participant in worship today. We pray that you will find this service meaningful. Worship is but one of the many ministries of First Presbyterian Church.

PLEASE REMEMBER to turn off cell phones and pagers.

PLEASE SIGN IN: Both members and visitors are asked to “sign in” each Sunday on the friendship folders passed down the pews during the offering. This is our only record of your attendance.

LOOKING FOR A CHURCH HOME? Please speak with Dr. Mueller or an elder standing in front of the sanctuary following the 10:30 a.m. worship. A Stephen Minister, Pat Golley, will be available for prayer or to answer any questions you might have.

Ushers serving today: 8:00 a.m. - Willie Anderson, Clark Taylor; 10:30 a.m. - Patty Conley, Patrick Greene and Mora Johnson.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed at both worship services this morning.

The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in memory of Scott Connor by Linda, Woodward, Austin and Connor Howard.

The flowers in the narthex are given to the glory of God and in memory of Scott Connor by Jan, Jack, Bryce and Ashley Connor.

ALL YOUNG ADULTS - Join Margaret and Andrew every Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm for good food and fellowship! We meet off campus so contact either of them to be added to the email list and join the Facebook page for updates.

Presbyterian Women will have their third Gathering of the year Monday, March 3, 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This will be a Coffee hosted by Circle 3 and 4. A speaker from Children’s Advocacy Center will speak on “Child Abuse Prevention.” The Columbia Friendship Circle offering will also be received. Also mark your calendars for the Presbytery PW Gathering which will be held at our church on Tuesday, April 8. The key note speaker that day will be Anne Hallum reporting on The Alliance for International Reforestation, better known as “AIR.”

Share your Soles! We have a group from First Presbyterian heading to Haiti during Spring Break! First Friends is asking for GENTLY used kids shoes to share with our Haiti First Friends. We especially need sizes to fit children ages 6-12, but smaller ones are also appreciated. There will be a box in the fellowship hall to collect the shoes through March 16th. Thank you in advance for supporting our efforts in Haiti. This is one of the poorest countries in our world, and many suffering in poverty are the precious children.

FPC is looking for a college-age individual to

employ as a part-time summer youth intern. The

intern must have a love of God and youth, the

ability to organize and lead youth activities which

foster an atmosphere for spiritual growth, and

relate easily with young people. Under the

direction of the youth director, the intern will assist

with summer programming including Bible study,

fellowship events and VBS. Interested persons

should contact Barbara Bozeman of the

Personnel Committee at [email protected].

Presbyterian Youth Connection meets on Sunday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. All youth are welcome and encouraged to come.

Breakfast and Bible Study is a Youth Bible Study led by Andrew Bevel Friday mornings at 6:45 a.m. in the library. All youth middle and high school age are encouraged to come. Registration is underway! Church members and the public are encouraged to get your child/children registered immediately if you have not already! Registration forms are available in the church office and on our church website, The LOGOS theme for March 5 is “Ash Wednesday” so come receive ashes. Thanks to Linda McAllister, David Owens and Malinda McCleary for preparing our children choirs for worship this morning.

Thanks to Justin Swearinger for playing the Prelude for worship this morning.

Bring Your Favorite Pot of Chili!

Is God calling you to visit and encourage our Presbyte-rian partners in a new place? We've been invited to send a small delegation to visit the Presbyterian Churches and Seminary in Cuba. The trip will

be from May 3-10 to establish a sister rela-tionship with the church in Guanabacoa, located in the suburbs of Havana, where new generations are hungry to hear the Word. They have an energetic, ordained pastor, and a long-standing, vital outreach ministry, led by an elder who is also a doctor, to walk be-side those living with AIDS. Our church re-cently provided funds to help purchase hous-ing adjacent to the church. Now we want to grow our relationships with this Cuban church! Cost of the trip to our participants will be approx. $1,000. The trip is open to men and women. As we will have to apply for visas, we will need to know soon who God is calling! Contact Pastor Mark or Pastor Mar-garet for more info.

The North Alabama Presbytery is looking for volunteers for front desk receptionist once a month (preferably Wednes-day’s) from 9:00 a.m.

until 12:30 p.m. Main duties will be to wel-come visitors, operate the phone system, and occasional tasks such as stapling, orga-nizing name tags for stated meetings, etc. This individual must exhibit friendliness, con-fidentiality, and dependability. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Cynde at the church office.

Ash Wednesday Services will be on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at the Gideon Black-burn House, and during LOGOS at 6:00 p.m. Please signup if you will be joining us for dinner!

Beginning March 16th, small envelopes will be available in the pew racks for your flower dedications. There will be a

small card inside the envelope that you will fill out and place back in the envelope with your $45.

Lenten Prayer Services will be held each Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Gideon Blackburn House. Every weekday during Lent, the Gideon Blackburn House will be open for prayers be-tween the hours of 6:00 a.m.
