Objectives
18/02/2019ASSESSING THE LINKAGES BETWEEN GLOBAL INDICATORS, THE SEEA & THE SDGS
Work package under the NCA and ES Valuation Project*
▪ Which global and national indicators can be directly integrated into the SEEA to
support reporting on progress towards SDG Targets?
▪ Which global and national indicators have the potential to be generated using
accounting modules within the SEEA framework?
▪ What are the gaps in current indicator initiatives that could be filled using the
SEEA and existing global (and national) data?
▪ Which global and national indicators supported by the SEEA and relevant to
SDG Targets should be considered priorities for testing?

Accounts, Gaps and Mainstreaming Opportunities
▪ Land cover / ecosystem extent accounts a priority
▪ Key Aichi Target indicator gaps relating to:
Trends in extent and condition of vulnerable ecosystems
Trends in restoration of ecosystems providing essential services
Trends in ecosystem resilience
▪ Opportunities for ecosystem mainstreaming indictors:
Reducing poverty (SDG Targets 1.4 and 1.5)
Ending hunger (SDG Targets 2.1, 2.3 and 2.4)
Building resilient (green) infrastructure (SDG Targets 9.1 and 9.4 )

Assessment of Global Indicators
▪ Following the meeting we would be grateful if you could complete the comment form for the report circulated and return this by 22nd March
Develop methodology for indicators (this meeting)
▪ Develop a SEEA based methodology for SDG 6.6.1 and 15.3.1
▪ Develop a SEEA based methodology for 2 other indicators (Post 2020 focus)
Test Methodology with Pilot Countries (2019 / 2020)
▪ Refine methodology
▪ Capture lessons learned
