This conference provides a key opportunity to assess how the new Government will tackle the housing crisis, where the money will come from, how to approach the acute shortage of skilled construction workers and the role housing associations can play. Managing numerous homes under the scrutiny of the regulator and to the satisfaction of residents, whilst driving business efficiency, is a complex task. 15:15 panel dIScuSSIon the whole cost of housing – how much does it cost to live in your home? Rent is only one part of the cost of housing. Heating, lighting and service charges all impact on affordability. landlords are responsible for the quality and efficiency of the homes they let, so is there an argument for a pay- as-you-save model for rented housing? 16:20 do we have the skills to solve the housing crisis? As the housing market picks up, skilled construction workers are at a premium. This has a direct impact on the cost of building new homes and the deliverability of affordable housing. 10:30 Refreshment break and exhibition viewing

Gareth Baynham-Hughes, Deputy Director, Fuel poverty, DEcc (invited) Helen Coates, policy and partnerships Officer, circle Housing Group

B10: maintaining and improving your stock efficiently – social and economic value

Bill Bullivant, Consultant, clarke Willmott John Magness, Assistant Director of Asset Management, Midland Heart Steve Malone, Managing Director, pfH Jessica Taylor, partner, clarke Willmott
