Well-designedcomprehensive approach to curriculumand assessment is important for effectiveteaching and learning in the field of arteducation. The researcher explained thatwhen planning the curriculum, settingnational goals and standards is a matter that should be emphasized. In the visualarts curriculum, the objective is to developunderstanding of visual culture amongschool students. In visual arts educationin the subject, there is interdisciplinaryintegration guidance in learning. According to Stewart and Walker (2(K) 3),art teachers must ensure that thecurricula they develop align with local, state, and national standards.

The national standards are a statement of whatever young American should knowand be able to do in the arts (The(Consortium of National Arts Education

    Associations, 1994).

Through our comprehensive visual artscurriculum, we believe students shoulddevelop their creative abilities in order toacquire knowledge, communicate ideas, and to synthesize information. (Fopovich,Vandeleur, Mills,Davis, l-ries, Zayat, &Silerzio, 2004, p. 3)
