A home healthcare company wants the absolute value of the difference between the

actual and budgeted amounts to be less than or equal to $500 and less than or equal to

5% of the budgeted amount. By letting a represent the actual expenses and b the

budgeted expenses, theses restrictions can be written as:

For travel, office supplies and wages, the company budgeted $12,500, $750 and

$84,600. The actual amounts paid for these expenses were $12,872.56, $704.15 and

$85,143.95.

Are these amounts within budget restriction?

Given that to repay a debt of RM39,750 by monthly instalments, the first instalment

being RM60 and the amount increases by RM30 each month after the first payment.

(a) Find the number of months it takes to repay the debt.

(b) What is the amount of the final instalment?

Solve for x, y and z using Cramer’s rule method:
