INTRODUCTION TO CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (CPE420)

FKK UiTM SHAH ALAM

ASSIGNMENT 2 (CO1, PO7, PO9)

Butanol refers to a four-carbon alcohol with a formula of C4H9OH. It is primarily used as a

solvent, as an intermediate in chemical synthesis, and as a fuel. Prepare a technical

group report and slide presentation on PRODUCTION OF BUTANOL. Choose only one

process synthesis in manufacturing the product. Your report must consist of:

1) Overview of butanol in terms of application and economic contribution to the

country

2) Sustainable pillars of the choosen process synthesis

3) Details on separator, included theory and autocad drawing

4) Material balance for each of the component

5) Energy balance for each of the component

6) Block Flow Diagram and Process Flow Diagram for the choosen process

synthesis

7) Types of utilities and usage

The assessment will be based on report writing (10%) and oral presentation (10%) skills

(PO7 and PO9). The report should be submitted during the presentation on week 11.

Plagiarism and late submission will be penalized.

GOOD LUCK!!!
