v  If you’re looking for a book on poetry

you can understand, look no further! Love

That Dog is written in a simple style that

is easy to understand. This free verse

poetry book can show anyone how easy it

is to write your own poetry. Kids will love

the story of Jack and how his teacher

inspires him to write poetry even though

he thought he never could.

LOVE THAT DOG

Hate That Cat

This is another book written by Creech that is very similar to Love

That Dog. They are both novels written in free verse.

Replay

Creech’s book Replay is different from Love That Dog in the way

that it isn’t a poetry book it’s a drama. Although they are different

because one is a poetry and the other is a drama in a way they are

similar because they both can be used in ELA lesson to teach

different genre of reading.

The Boy on the Porch

This book is different from the other two books written by

Sharon Creech. This book isn’t a novel written in poetry or drama.

It’s a novel written like any other novel books in chapters.

v  Wonder Struck is two stories in

one that will surprise you at the

end. It is a must read novel that

tells one story through pictures

and the other through words. Find

out how these two stories come

together to give you an unexpected

ending that you never saw coming.

WONDER STRUCK

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The author Brian Selznick writes “The Invention of Hugo

Cabret” very similar to Wonder Struck in the way that he is telling

a story through drawings just like he did in Wonder Struck.

The Houdini Box

Another one of Selznick’s books that is somewhat similar to

Wonder Struck. He not only writes but also includes many

drawings in his books. His books are told through illustrations.

The Boy of a Thousand Faces

Unlike the realistic novel Wonder Struck, The Boy of a Thousand

Faces is a fiction story of a young boy who lives in a haunted

house and runs with monsters. Selznick includes illustrations but

not telling the story like in Wonder Struck.
