What is Business Opportunity? A business opportunity may be

defined as a business proposal an entrepreneur would like to pursue considering risk and the reward involved in the proposal which may be manufacturing or servicing or trading.

How people identify opportunity? Most of the entrepreneurs identify the

business opportunity by one of the following ways:

1. This is our family business2. I have related experience so I pursue the

opportunity3. I am a copy cat, some one is making money

in this way.These unscientific approaches lead to more

disasters than the success

Broad Categories Thus we can categories under the

following categories : Resource Based Demand Based Skill Based Ancillary / Vendor Waste Based Innovative etc……

Resource Based Industries which are based on available

local resources are called resource based industries.

E.g. Cotton Mills flourished in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Paper Mill near Vyara Sugar Mills in UP and Maharashtra

Demand Based Industries which cater to the local

requirement, availability of resources is not a pre-requisite, such a category of industries are placed under this sector.

Eg. Air Coolers are in demand during summer in the whole country.

Skill Based These are the industries where skills are

available with the local people are used to manufacture various goods and services.

E.g. Silk Sarees at Ikal and Varanasi Diamond Polishing at Surat

Ancillary Vendor Any Industry supplying raw material or

components to any medium or large industry at least to an extent of one shift load of its installed capacity (per day), Such industries are categorised as Ancillary industry.

Maintenance of  Wind Turbines Existing Industry Based     :   Ancillary/ vendor

Gujarat is the second largest Wind Turbine centre.  Most of the installations are under O&M contract with the supplier company Say, Suzlon, Gamesha or Vestas.

These companies subcontract to the small vendors.  With more than 2,000 WTG installations in Saurashtra and Kutchh it provides an opportunity.

With the industrialization and growing population demand of water for drinking and agriculture is rising.

Natural sources of crude are limited Search for alternate viable and

sustainable fuel alternate Bio Diesel projects can lead to some

alternate solution
